Classic all the way. This is a great place to get simple Italian-American cuisine at a great price. The break and oil is really good. The bread pudding is amazing!
Our weekly party of seven adults decided to eat here tonight and forego Olive Garden. We arrived around 6 pm and the restaurant was not crowded at all. We were immediately seated then quickly greeted by a waiter. We ordered wine, a margarita and soft drinks. The menu is adequate with lots of choices but not overwhelming. We ordered the sampler appetizer with calamari, fried cheese sticks and toasted ravioli. Service was rather confused (new and unfamiliar with the menu) and very slow, don’t be in a hurry to eat here! The waiter brought delicious fresh bread with dried herbs you mix at your table with excellent EVOO. This bread is way above the well-known breadsticks; it’s hot, yeasty and wonderfully addictive! Appetizers were fine although a bit greasy. Note: salads are not included with entrees here–they are extra. Our group ordered shrimp limone, chicken piccata, chicken Marsala, strawberry salad with grilled chicken, lemon chicken primavera, lasagna and pizza. Although we had a very long wait for the entrees, and although our inept waiter served my salad with my entree, everything was well-seasoned and fresh. Pasta was excellent and definitely more authentic than other Italian restaurants. Portions were large and we all took home food. The restaurant offers quite a few desserts, we tried the Italian Wedding Cake and the chocolate brownie. They were delicious and topped off a terrific meal.We did not give a higher rating because of the slowness of the service and the rookie waiter; but we will return for the food! Two entrees with a glass of wine and a salad plus a soft drink was $39.43 before tip.
In my opinion, flavor wise, this place is way better than OG. The only thing I think OG has that Zio’s doesn’t is that each entree comes with your choice of unlimited soup of salad… But overall I would pick Zio’s over OG any day. Prices are good, portions are big, restaurants are nice.
