Great, busy place for breakfast. Good honest food and friendly service.
Not worth the effort. Went on a Sunday morning. Myself, Son in Law, and 1 of the grandsons went in and asked for a table for 7. My wife, daughter and other 2 grandsons were on there way. We ordered coffee as we were waiting for the others. An elderly lady, either the owner or and employee came by the table and complained that we were taking up space that could be used by others. I told her that we were waiting for the others who would be here any minute. She told me that she would be watching us. How polite and friendly is that? The others should up within a minute. We ordered and food was decent, but cold. I will not go back and would not recommend the place.
Horrible breakfast. We have been to the cafe before and it was ok. This past weekend tried to have breakfast and the food was served cold. Cold eggs, cold gravy and mushy biscuits. The cheese was not melted on the omelet and the server reached over and picked up a pancake with her bare hand to see if it was blueberry! We asked for the food to be warmed and all that happened is they placed it in the microwave making all of it in edible. Will Never return !
Enjoyed the pancakes at breakfast. 7A omelette was tasty and fresh.
After the Blue Hole . . .. There are not too many restaurants in the quaint little town of Wimberley and this one is located prominently on the square. Actually it is more of the proverbial wide spot in the road where the traffic winds its way through the middle of a cluster of restaurants and tourist shops. Parking space is hen’s tooth scarce during the weekend, but we had no problem on this weekday outing.Very old school caf in appearance with lime sherbet colored walls and plastic covered chairs and tables. Perfect for a wet swim suit. There is a central bar area where the food is conveyed from the kitchen and is surrounded by bar stools for extra seating. As you would expect, comfort food fills the menu and was exactly what we were looking for after a couple hours of fun in the sun and ice cold spring water at the nearby Blue Hole swimming oasis. Chicken fried chicken it was after a recommendation from the waitress. Juicy, tender, hunk-a-cluck with super crunchy batter and well seasoned cream gravy (extra please) which, of course, went smashingly on the mashed potatoes as well. No surprise there. Fried okra was previously frozen but served golden brown and crisp, but the vegetable medley had to be replaced with a salad (for an additional charge) as the yellow squash in the dish was very bitter. For caf or diner style food, this is the place. Also, it is slightly less expensive than the neighboring Cypress Caf (which is also very good) for similar dishes. Service was friendly and fast.
You won’t find your friendly tx hospitality here! We walked in with our three year old. We were not greeted for a seat, but glared at by employees that were more concerned about counting their money. We left, as we were clearly not wanted. My advice, families are not welcome. Try another cafe, that this charming town has to offer.
Good enough to eat.. Must say the lack of good eats in Wimberley has been disappointing BUT the Wimberley Cafe has a very good Tuna Salad Sandwich!! And really great servers. Then I discovered Mimas Mexican around the corner!! Two great places. Any other suggestions??
