The management is rude and if you over-stay, they try to shove bottle service in your face at $220 a pop! Also, my guests had to wait in the cold and, despite Management knowing that we had a party, they were made to wait in line! That to me was a big turn off but I guess for a weekend night, that’s to be expected. Otherwise, food, service and music were top-notch. Policy should have a more clear-cut policy upfront about big parties on weekends. That’s all.

Small plates/big flavors. I left Policy a bit indifferent until I really thought about the food and decided this really was a promising kitchen. While I always wonder if the tapas/mezze/little plate trend is getting out of hand where one never knows if the chef can execute a full fledged entre, I secretly love them – the ability to have a variety of flavors and textures in different combinations is a great pleasure and I am a big fan of sharing. Dining with a group of friends who all like to experiment, we cut a wide swath through their menu ordering several exceptional salads vegetables, and entres. Among the salads, the watermelon and feta was my favorite although the mixed greens with a light but flavorful vinaigrette (and that night served with peaches and bacon) were rather nice. Among the entrees the herbed gnocchi were light and impeccably seasoned (and they are so often leaden and bland). The curried lamb sliders were a big hit wit everyone – we almost ordered more. The perfectly seared scallops floated above haricots vert and the duck confit spring rolls were crisp but not greasy and stuffed with tender duck and served with a piquant dipping sauce. I guess there were two things that had me wondering whether I liked Policy. The last dish I sampled was a shrimp dish. A pile of shrimp were plated amongst the heads and served with a corn relish that was under-seasoned. The shrimp themselves were either overcooked and rubbery or undercooked and mushy. It was a very disappointing dish to end what had been a constant parade of well-executed and imaginative dishes. The other thing that had me wondering was the trying to hard dcor. There was too much black and red with no relief to the eyes and uncomfortable seating both in the lounge and at booths. A major plus was that the noise level was surprisingly low – a bit louder in the lounge but conversation in the booths was easy. Other restaurants should take notice. The inviting and creative drinks menu had us sampling different tipples and the thoughtful and well priced wine list was made even more attractive by being half off on the Wednesday night we dined. The charming and efficient staff make this place the real winner. Sascha was a doll! When the bill arrived we were all pleasantly surprised at how modest it was so another visit is definitely in the works.

Recently had dinner at Policy and the food was fantastic. The place had a great vibe and the service was great. The braised short ribs were tender and delicious but the Brie chile rellano really was amazing.
