Great coffee and breakfast – the French toast is ridiculously decadent. Topped off with friendly, efficient service. I was really impressed that they did the French toast for us after they were supposed to have stopped doing it.

Tucked away on Lonsdale St is Elemental, nice little spot especially on a hot day. Really good coffee however, service was a little lacking. Happy to go with no table service, but need to let customers know.

I ordered Salmon and Flenner Salad for $20. I was provided with 4 pieces of beetroot and 4 pieces of salmon. CAN’T BELIEVE I even paid $20 for this. It does look good, but just doesn’t worth it.

Worst dining experience ever…. overpriced and disgusting food. Will never go again…. Burger size is large enough with a little bit of chilli, but the chips there are so disgusting….

Elemental was great when it first opened but it’s gone downhill recently.Portion sizes on some items have been cut. Others are downright stingy – $5 for one tiny slice of raisin toast, which came un-toasted and without any butter! The staff, who were happy and prompt, now have an edge. On this visit items needed to be chased twice with long waits. No attempt was made to rectify the oversights. What a shame.

I visited a few months ago, and plan to come back here with a few friends for lunch. At the time I ordered the warm trout salad ($19) which had creamed leeks, rocket, parsley oil, avocado, sprinkling of nuts, a wedge of lime and two pieces of wonderfully smoked trout topped with a nice chunk of crispy skin. This dish was wonderfully balanced with the peppery rocket and salty fish, the sprinkling of nuts and crispy skin adding wonderful texture to the soft and creamy avocado, leeks and trout. Both the wedge of lime and parsley oil look wonderful as garnish, but also add to the dish by lightening the intense flavours and adding freshness. The other meal ordered was a pork belly dish that was on the specials menu for the week, and I really wish it was on their menu permanently. I think it was around $21, and had a wonderful piece of pork belly with the essential crispy crackling, placed on top of a beetroot hummus?, braised fennel, a mint and parsley like sauce and a side of salad with apple and sharp radishes that really cut through the fat of the pork belly.Overall, the food was wonderful and tasty, even better knowing that the food is organic and locally produced. The service was wonderful and the staff made sure we were comfortable and enjoying our meal. moodandfood.wix.com

There’s a real wholesomeness to the food here with a focus on paleo. I’m not into fad diets but I prefer to eat healthily and Elemental does it well. Look out for the protein bread. It also has arguably the best coffee in Canberra. Service is friendly and efficient.
