The premises is on the market looking for a new leasee. We have been regular customers for over 10 years and noticed quickly when the restaurant was closed due to family circumstances. This is just speculation but we think that the owner may have passed away or suffered a severe stroke. As he had firm control with only him managing the cash. With him gone the staff had no access to the restaurant, or even the opportunity to continue the restaurant for him. We are hoping that his wonderful chef will open his own restaurant there dishing out his fantastic dishes – the Canard a L’Orange was just the best. I hope this message helps.

I have eaten here quite a few times and I really like this place, location is perfect as right in town near where I stay when I’m here. Very friendly service, efficient and the food is yummie with a good range on the menu. 🙂

Delicious!. We enjoyed a delightful dinner at Ardeche on Saturday 22/2. The service was attentive, but not stuffy. The wine selection was great. All meals on the menu were available – and, as a group of 12 – we sampled many! The Honey, Rosemary & Garlic bread was amazing – a sweet and savoury sensation. For entreee, I ordered Fois Gras with crusty bread. My only disappointment was the serve was too large. My husband enjoyed the balance, after also ordering the same dish! My friends advised me that the french onion soup was delicious, as was the panfried prawns & scallops etc.My main was Crepe Normande aux Fruits De Mer (fresh seafood folded into a herb crepe – again delicious. My husband again ordered the same, but regretted not ordering the duck after he saw our friend’s meal. Desserts were delicious and generous in size. Croquembouche (profiteroles) were delightedly chewy and filled with just the right amount of grand marnier creme patissiere. The Roman (amaretto) coffee was superb but too much after such a generous meal.We will definitely go back to sample more on this menu.

Not up to scratch. We went to Ardeche for a special Valentine’s dinner. Unfortunately we experienced similar problems to the reviewer below. We saw a waiter rudely refuse to deal with other tables’ complaints. They had a kitchenhand waiting tables which might have explained the poor quality food. None of the staff loked happy. The meal was punctuated by loud crashes from the kitchen, bar, and floor. And it was expensive!

Fantastic!!! Only criticism…. Fantastic!!!Only criticism would be that they could improve their wine list to match their wonderful food.

Great little french restaurant I often enjoy the coq au vin or other traditional dishes some dishes are of modest size but they concentrate on reproducing the traditional french flavours its a very enjoyable location in the drab grey Canberra winter

Service was absent-minded and wine list uninspiring which were all excusable until they overcooked my duck a l’orange!! Unforgivable!
