Most places these days in our national capital are too grand to offer the simple but marvellous ham, cheese & tomato toasted sandwich. But not Café Essen, which does it very well. Good coffee too in a pleasant quiet spot & free newspapers too.
Breakfast on a frigid overcast Canberra morning. The big breakfast, was of a generous size from quality ingredients, I also had a side of chips. The coffee was good and the staff lovely. It was a pleasant experience.

is a small resturant style caffe for small groups at the far end of citty akuna street good for small groups in quite location
It’s not a bad cafe, and the menu is good. It just lacks a soul. And the service is so so. The staff member who served us was unhappy, and so just shoved food and coffee in front of us. I’d give it a miss
