Things you need to know before going to this Cafe:- the customer is always wrong.- the owner knows everything.- you are an idiot.It is strange the the owner runs a business in serving people, face to face. He certainly does not like to do it or want to do it. The coffee is bearable, yes, but that’s not the point, if the coffee was 10/10 I still would never go there again on principle, the owner’s attitude would leave a foul taste in your mouth even if the coffee was good.He is rude and arrogant and he doesn’t care..Oh and don’t expect the correct change if you pay cash.I only give it 2 out of 5 because the coffee was ‘ok’.

Checkerplate is run by a grumpy man who gets stressed out easily and often is straight out rude to customers, and sleazy/touchy to women, making them sort out change amongst themselves rather than provide it, and generally cares little for what service is. The food is standard pre-prepared rolls often stale, and basic contemporary fare. The Coffee is about a 6/10 – not terrible, but not great either. I stopped going here because of what a rude person the owner can be. Seriously, if you are going to be such a jerk to customers, you shouldn’t be in the industry. Try and strike up a conversation about any subject, and he (thinks he is) an expert on any subject you care to name, making the experience even worse. Avoid this place.
