I go here regularly for lunch for their great pho and hu tieu. You will get your food within minutes of ordering. One thing to note is they don’t have an eftpos machine. Cash only.
I was pleasantly surprised by this place, given my very low expectations about Vietnamese food in Canberra. I didn’t consider ordering anything other than the ph. I ordered the special (c bit). It’s a Saigon-style ph with a strong star anise flavour and a really hearty, believable beef stock at its base. All the elements for ph c bit were present and correct: tripe, cooked fatty brisket, raw fillet, tendon, beef balls, raw onion, Vietnamese basil, beanshoots, lemon, seriously hot fresh chili etc. The noodles are fresh ph noodles, tick. At $14 this is a steal by Canberra standards. I’ll be going back soon.
Great little pho restaurant within the city! The customer service was helpful. Pho was delicious and loved fresh bean sprouts. The broth in the pho didn’t wasn’t tasteless also! 4/5
I go here almost every week for dinner with friends, I either get the beef pho, spicy beef and pork soup, crispy skin chicken with tomato rice or the grilled chicken – all are very good! The place is nothing fancy and you’ll need to pay cash but the food really satisfies! Try the Vietnamese iced coffee or mango or avocado smoothies too… so yum!
The pho is never a disappointment here as it is always so flavoursome, fresh and value for money. The servings are generous and the staff are friendly. Will definitely be back!
The worst pho hub I ever visited in Act. Could you believe the 12 dollars daily special is just a lunch box shown below? few slices and bad taste rice. We also ordered a pho, it tastes sour and nothing like other pho hubs. Never come again.
iPho sits right in the middle of Canberra CBD and is close to the Canberra Centre. While I wouldn’t label their food great nor plan on returning anytime soon, I can say the food is decent. For $14, you’ll get a bowl of combination beef pho. It has rare beef strips, brisket, tendons and tripes. Brisket and tendons are heavenly soft and they melt in your mouth. Unfortunately, the tripes are the exact opposite. They are chewy! The beef broth is just, meh. Dull and lacklustre. I kept looking for that addictive beefy goodness pho usually gives me. For the same price, you can also get a plate of grilled pork chops and rice. Don’t bother ordering this. The pork chop is dry and needs more flavour. I have enjoyed the Vietnamese coffee though. Such a delight to watch the coffee drip into the sweet and creamy condensed milk. Now I don’t like my coffee sweet but this is one exception I’m happy to let go of my coffee preferences.
