This has got to be one of the worst restaurants in Canberra. I went when it first opened a few years ago and was appalled at the overtly manipulative service then but thought it deserved a second chance given its location and decor. Very limited and inflexible menu, and once again crazy service with the waiter rushing through the ordering process with only two tables to service as the rest were empty. I even asked him what the rush was given it was Sunday lunchtime and he looked at me blankly. Bizarre. Never EVER again.
Overpriced and pretentious. Very poor service and poorly trained staff. Left hungry and thirsty..
Food was well below expectation set by the previous experiences of myself and my companion. Service was very slow and staff were lifeless thought restaurant was not busy. Entre of pork bely was edible but not impressive, with crackling that did not crackle and only vaguely hot meat. Black Angus eye fillet was likely cooked nicely but became rubbery and cool while waiting to be served. Uninspiring sides didn’t arrive with mains. Begrudge paying the price of these meals and did not stay for dessert. Cocktail and glass of wine were both excellent.
Thoroughly enjoyed dinner here last night . The pasta is made fresh daily and my seafood spaghetti was very flavourful made with a rich tomato sauce with cherry tomatoes and seasoned beautifully with various Italian herbs. The seafood was generous with vongole , prawns and mussels and the fresh pasta was ok , slightly on the dry side however overall an impressive dish . It was great to see a good range of local and regional wines being represented . Also the fresh bread was a winner and friendly attentive service to boot. Exceeded my expectations for a hotel restaurant .
Food was good, veal done perfectly and tomato and fennel was a winner. Tend to agree with previous review, re service – plenty of them, but you needed to get their attention.
Not again. We went in for Easter Sunday lunch, table of 6. The food was superb, would certainly go back, worth the pretty price tag. On the other hand the service was hopeless.. we pretty much had to serve ourselves and ask for everything. There were only 2 other tables at the time and plenty of wait staff but they stood around talking to each other rather than serve customers. For this we wouldn’t go back for seconds which is a shame. If your a Chef from this restaurant you seriously need to do something about the front of house staff, they really are letting you down in the kitchen!
Terrible. Made a reservation a few weeks a head of time for which I was told was not there when I arrived that evening for dinner. The waiter was not helpful and was rude about the whole situation and told me that I probably never even called. Wouldn’t recommend a restaurant that can’t take a simple booking.
