I only wish I had read some of the reviews before going to this place! It would have to be, hands down, the WORST dining experience I have ever had the misfortune to encounter, in my entire life!! Do yourself a favour and AVOID this place!!!- The staff are rude, but with an extremely rude owner who doesn’t know the meaning of customer satisfaction, I guess you can’t blame the staff when an owner sets such low standards.- General customer service is non existent, where the staff seem to forget to wait on tables and don’t seem to know what they are doing (again I blame the owner here).- The food is extremely bland and uninteresting while being ridiculously over-priced, not sure if the owner also controls the chef, but clearly the owner either doesn’t taste the food or has no taste!- The atmosphere may be ok, but with so many negatives from the moment you set foot in this place you can’t get to experience any atmosphere through the general frustration… …and looking around at other patrons it didn’t seem like their experience of this place was any better!Chef Gordon Ramsay would have a field day in this place, and aside from closing the place down and starting again with new owners and staff, there wouldn’t be much he could do to make it work! I am truly surprised that this place is still operating.Save your money and find somewhere where you will have an enjoyable dining experience!
Food was nice, however the service was poor and the cost was exorbitant for what it was. The waiter tried to up sell us to the degustation 5 course meal. Before taking orders, he suggested some focaccia, four slithers of bread were $8.50 (complimentary in most good restaurants), and we weren’t told about the specials either. Unfortunately for us, it was a poor experience as were were there from Melbourne on our son’s birthday.
Fantastic. After their renovations this restaurant is fantastic. The affetatti were generous and the main meals were delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful as they have been previously. Highly recommend the Valpolicella.
Best food in town. I dine in a lot of restaurants in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. I am in Canberra every week for work and the highlight of my day is landing at Mezzalira for dinner after a long and busy day. The food is sublime and the wait staff are so warm and friendly that I feel like a part of the family. Being away each week from my family is really hard and the only thing that really makes a difference is eating with these guys …I am a woman dining alone each week and they always make me feel really welcome and comfortable. They always fit me in and I really love the food! No better food have I eaten anywhere. Thank-you so much I really appreciate your fabulous restaurant and team. Regards Justine
One of the best Italian restaurants in Canberra. This restaurant is recommended by our friend with Italian background and yes we were not disappointed. Home made bread was crunchy on the outside and fluffy and soft inside. Antipasti was simple but fresh and flavoursome. Pasta tasted home made and was full of flavour. Main dish we ordered Tuna and again it tasted fresh and nicely cooked.Service was wonderful and elegant and it was also a elegant restaurant.
We booked for 7 people but one person did not order a meal for private reasons. The waiter was extremely rude and told us we were using up valuable space in a busy restaurant . We are from melbourne and have not come across such arrogant behaviour from a waiter before. I complained to the manager only to find that crap runs downhill. Not worth the effort. Next time I book for a business dinner in Canberra it won’t be here.,
Best food in Canberra?. We had an amazing dinner here. The food was exquisite – subtle but tasty flavours and interesting twists on classics. We sampled a few different desserts that were perhaps the highlight of the evening – really creatively designed and surprising dishes. The staff readily accomodated our party’s request to share dishes and were attentive but didn’t hover.
