I love this place. Every time I visit I leave impressed and satisfied. The sashimi noodle dish is a work of art. So to the shabu shubus. All kinds of other things.
Shabu shabu was a very generous and warming meal, enough to share between two not-so-hungry people with a varied selection of vegies and hearty miso flavour in the vegetable shabu shabu. Tuna sashimi was also nice and fresh and the free tea is always a nice touch. Service was alright and atmosphere is good!
The Shabu set contains some meat and vegetables for the pot and a bowl of rice. The small plates here is just normal. The chicken wings is OK but he octopus ball is bad.
This place is pretty standard. The shabu shabu concept is cool but the food and service is at an average level. It’s a little difficult to eat rice from the tiny square bowl and it’s served at such a small quantity that it doesn’t nearly fill you up.
Average food but conveniently located within ANU grounds. I’ve tried quite a few items on the menu, and nothing really blows my mind. Their rice is rather hit or miss. This time around, it was clear miss. The rice was from the bottom of the pot – clumpy, hard and overcooked. Was there with 7 other friends, and everyone had such rice. For peeps with the iDiscount card, they are currently having a promotion where you get 10% off your total bill if you spend more than $40 in a single transaction. Do check in store to see when promotion ends.
Very average food at low prices. Food tastes quite bland and flavourless. Slightly disappointing for a Japanese restaurant. But a good place to eat for lunch.
This was my first visit. I had the prawn tempura udon noodle. The prawn tempura was oily so I could only eat 2 of the 4 on the plate. The broth was very one-dimensional and the udon was gluggy in parts. My better half had the unagi don, which was also very one-dimensional. It had accompaniments of a pickle which was ok, and a springroll with corn kernel inside. I didnt get it and thought it looked sad and waste of space. Our third diner had the beef shabu shabu and she looked like she enjoyed it. I had a taste of some broth and a slice of the beef and agreed it was the best of the 3 dishes. So if you ever find yourself in this place, avoid the prawn tempura udon, the unagi don and go for the beef shabu shabu. I dont know anything about the other dishes and it is highly unlikely I would be going again to find out…
