$7.50 roast lunch special is exceptionally well priced although I have had better roasts it really was not that bad. Could have been served more vegetables on the side and also I ordered a side of hot chips which were overcooked. Also for $11 you can add a dessert I got the blueberry apple crumble, which was nice but not well presented. Service was good by the staff friendly and accommodating.
(The first part of this review was from an organised event here in February 2016. See my latest review 16 months later in June 2017 at the bottom of this review. Apparently you can only review a place once on this site, which is not right, because a place can change enormously over a year or more). We go to a lot of restaurants in many different cities, so we have a good idea of what is supposed to happen when you organise a booking for a number of seats for a celebration. When I booked a table of 18 people who had gathered here for a special event, and to catch up with each other, all we expected was to be able to order our food and drinks and be served, and everything else that normally goes with that in a restaurant. What a shambles! Faulty Towers could have done far better! We could not order food from the table. We had to order at the counter. With several older people at the table which was located at the bottom of a flight of stairs, one person on crutches, and everyone having to interrupt their conversations to go and order, this would have been a nightmare. Two people had to act as unpaid waiters and write down all the orders, and go and do it all themselves, absenting themselves from the party. In the process, we ended up ordering one extra meal which someone had to pay for of course. To top it off, the person being celebrated didn’t get her meal until well after everyone else. This would never happen in a half-decent restaurant. We could not order drinks or even water from the table. Similarly to the food, three people had to take all the orders and go to the counter with the order. The staff wouldn’t even bring the drinks when they were ready. We had to carry huge trays of drinks, bottles of wine and ice buckets, glasses and jugs of water across the restaurant and down the stairs, negotiate tables and chairs, and serve the drinks to everyone; without spilling anything, and again, those people had to leave the celebrations and conversations for some time to do all this. What if we dropped one of the trays? Would we have to pay for the replacement drinks? What if someone tripped down the stairs whilst carrying a tray of drinks and hurt themselves? Whose liability would this be? Did nobody consider the OH&S issues of any of this? What are the staff being paid to do?The staff wouldn’t even put water and glasses on the table. What a joke! We had to carry all of this across the restaurant and down the stairs. The food was reasonable for club food, but they clearly don’t know how to cook chips. They were terrible for those who had them. At least the staff brought the meals to the table. When everyone had finished their meals, nobody cleared the table for ages, so we ended up moving dirty plates to nearby tables where they sat almost until we left.Again when we needed to order tea and coffee, we had to be the waiter again, and one person had to take all the orders and walk them across to the counter. Amazingly, the staff brought these to the table. On top of that, the food had to be bought from a different place to the drinks. Coffee and tea had to be paid separately as well. We had to pay three separate bills for one meal. How ridiculous!I could perhaps understand it if food and drinks were a lot cheaper than in other restaurants, but they were only slightly cheaper.Kutas is not a restaurant. It is little more than a buffet with a menu in a local hall, that is run by the people attending themselves because there is no staff there, and they have had to organise everything themselves.Call yourself something else; but not a restaurant.SECOND REVIEW 16 MONTHS LATER:I visited this place again in June, 2017. This is my updated review. Chris McDonaldin the last weekIf you are looking for great food and good ambiance, don’t come here. I was here 16 months ago and I had forgotten how bad it was. This is nothing more than a bistro. It is not a restaurant. I was visiting from melbourne, and took my mother and her sister from Sydney out for a relaxing dinner. We couldn’t hear ourselves talking for the loudspeakers announcing the draw for the raffle. It seemed to go on forever. When the drawer was finally finished, we had to put up with loud, meaningless dribble from the announcer until he had run out of ways to say goodnight.I sent the rare steak back because it was cold. It came back in two minutes barely warmer than before. I didn’t finish it because it was soon stone cold. The vegetables, in contrast, were over-cooked.As before, I had to go to three different cahiers to pay for food, drinks and coffee and tea later on. The bar was miles away.On the plus side, the woman on reception was extremely helpful and friendly when signing us in. The bar staff were friendly and efficient. The fish and chips were quite tasty and well cooked.
Took a membership to have some lunch after shopping with my wife, reception told us this is a best club to have lunch order ribeye steak(mr)and a Parma, ribeye came back rare vegetable way overcooked plate didn’t look like eatable, sent back got my steak after 20min my partner already done, same vegetables, sauce all over it was a mess, Talk to the manager she said that’s how we serve coz it’s a club, Look can do better than this what you pay for $36. Never going to recommend to anyone
The food is pretty ordinary the service is worse. They need to have more than 1 person taking orders. I go to have a meal, not having to wait in line for 20-30 mins and then the food gets delivered is cold and looks like it has been sitting under the heating lamps for hours. Never again
Award Winning For A Reason. You can see why this place is award winning! Amazing food- I had the Portuguese Cutlet and it melted in my mouth! Service was also great!
Have been coming to the club for years but worst experience ever last Saturday night. Had to wait in line next to the kitchen for 20 mins to order, once preached the front I realised why, almost every person was choosing their meals at the register and they only had 1 person on the register. Surely the management can develop a system where staff can take orders from tables to make it a better experience for customers, especially those who have made a reservation?! Or bring in policy to decide before you reach the counter so the rest of the patrons don’t have to wait behind you?? Food was average, salad was not fresh and too cold to eat.
