We arrived without a booking and the restaurant was fully booked. The staff were lovely and offered us a wine at the bar as an alternative. Before we finished our wine, they managed to find us a table in the restaurant with a beautiful view of the sun setting. The service was excellent. Complimentary house baked bread, beautiful butter with a smoked honey flavour. We shared the duck and lamb mains with sides. While the food was stand out, it’s hard to forget about the wine. Highly recommended!!

Sophisticated fine-dining (with a touch of pretentiousness) is alive and well in Albury-Wodonga. A real surprise packet was arriving upstairs at the Border Wine room to be served with a first course of liquified cold avocado and Vegemite sorbet. Despite a few questioning looks, it actually tasted okay. The seared tuna was perfect, simply presented but also executed more than respectably. The dessert was a little hit and miss – the one dish of the night that looked better than it tasted. Smashing through tempered toffee which simulated the smashing of glass was neat, but the chocolate in the dessert was a little overtaken by the sweetness and sheer amount of sugar. All the same, this joint is worth a look if you’re happy to fork out (this place isn’t inexpensive). Be open to trying something new and perhaps roll the dice on a few dishes and you should enjoy without being completely bowled over.

8 people $1000, I know it was very fancy fine dining but very small meals, slightly overpowering with lots of flavours separated , didn’t see the bill coming, felt a bit tricked. hungry after 6 courses.

Brilliant and imaginative food to go with an excellent wine list.  Served by the most helpful, cheerful polite staff (without being obsequious).  This business should rate more highly in Albury, which at times, can be a bit of a culinary desert to outsiders. The menu is a short one but each item listed, carries with it a surprise.  Here you will find a modern Japanese slant on all the traditional sounding dishes.Visitors to Albury should not miss this wonderful place to wine and dine.  It stands head and shoulders, for interesting foodcraft and quality ingredients, over other eating establishments in Albury.

Great food and wonderful service. Went to the border wine room upon recommendation by hotel staff and was not disappointed. Special of the day. Earth to the sea was absolutely stunning both visually and with taste – salmon sashimi with seaweed done in all sorts of different styles absolutely love it. Love the amuse bouse and the palate cleanser as well as their unique house smoked salt with olive oil foam to go with the bread.
