The service was the only reasonable thing here today. We ordered the big brekkie with chorizo and the French toast with crispy bacon. The big brekkie had three measly pieces of chorizo hardly acceptable as an addition. The poached eggs were more water than egg. Honestly the only winner on that plate was the pork sausage that honestly just takes warming up to be at its best. The French toast was barely cooked and the labne that came with it was so minimal it was as if they had mistakenly put it there. The bacon that was supposed to come crispy was about as far from it as can be. Overall the only redeeming quality about our visit was being able to park out the front but lets face it if they had any control over that we’d still be walking back to the car
Staff were nice but the food was only ok today. Poached eggs undercooked, and non existant goats cheese ‘mixed in with avocado’ (I couldn’t see it or taste it – can you?). Not sure if it was an off day for the kitchen. Coffee was lovely.
Nice little cafe and since we hadn’t been before thought to try it. We had our usual simple breakfast, poached eggs on toast and scrambled eggs with mushroom and haloumi. Firstly the Waiter didn’t write the orders down – that didn’t fill me with confidence. And they got the order wrong! So that has brought the score down.Food wise, not bad. I would have given them a 3.5. Last thing, it’s a cash only place! HELLO! It’s 2016! Get with the program! They lose points for that too!!
The service here is amazingly warm and friendly. Felt really nice after the terrible welcome we had at Booth Street Bistro across the road. I had the Clover Baked Breakfast Hot Pot With Toast (Chorizo & Goats Cheese) and Banana Smoothie. The Hot Pot was nice but eggs could be a bit less cooked and runnier, toast was nice but could be fluffier and smoothie could’ve been sweeter. Minor quibbles as it is very popular with locals. Great place to enjoy a relaxed breakfast.
Coffee takes ages and is cold . food so over prices i paid $18 for a BLT with avocado? simply couldn’t believe it . I could have bought an avocado for much less . gone downhill .
I have to admit I’m not the biggest fan of Clover. Simple dishes have been twisted (to be more hipster like I guess?) and they miss the mark. Give me simple bacon and eggs any day thanks! Good service though.
Clover, we used to love coming here. I always have the salmon salad which is great. last time we had the most unappealing white chicken with white lettuce on a white plate. So my husband this time opted for a chicken and salad baguette. It was a very cheap white roll with ok amount of chicken and avocado. The ‘salad’ consisted of a few soggy lettuce leaves. It was 12 or 14 dollars! Outrageous. So that’s two disappointing meals in a row. Coffee was good and strong as always.
