We were severely disappointed by the hor fun dish we ordered, the rice noodles turned out plain with no flavour. The egg ended up being a plain stir fry, and the only vegetable was some peas. It seemed our sentiment was shared as we overhead the customers around us expressing the similar disappointment in the dishes they had ordered. The dumplings were good value for money, but the taste was average at best.
YUMMO! From really great prices to nicely sized portions, you can’t go wrong with NSN! We ordered the veg dumplings, hot pot, shallot pancake, and some hand made noodles. The pancakes were average but I enjoyed everything else. And like I mentioned it was all very affordable. Will visit again!
Not to be confused with the black-clad New Shanghai next door….. New Shanghai Night (the one with the ladies making dumplings in the window) has been our go-to for a couple of years. This no-frills restaurant serves some pretty tasty Shanghai treats and noodles. Personal favourite is the Salt Pepper Chilli Bean Curd (the best!), while my 4yo son can’t go without the Pan Fried Pork Bun. Steamed dumplings are also pretty good! Take away available.
