Unfortunately this place was memorable for all the wrong reasons.Once you step out of the elevator into the restaurant, you’re met with a super sticky floor.(NB: the sign says Star Taste Chinese Restaurant)Staff are incredibly rude and will leave you standing clueless unless you physically go up to them and ask for a table.I came on a Sunday ~mid morning for yum cha. Despite the place being packed out, only 2 yum cha carts were in action for the entire room.Whether you speak their language or not, the service was terrible. When asked in Cantonese what was available in the closed dim sim baskets on her cart, the waitress snapped at my friend and told her to hurry up and decide. Our experience with the other lady was just as bad. We asked for pork buns but got vegetable ones instead. After talking to one of the head waiters we were able to swap it but fast forward 20minutes, our new buns still hadn’t come. Frustrated and very disappointed, we enlisted the help of a third waitress to cancel our order completely. Upon paying our bill we heard the cart lady speaking to a colleague saying she hadn’t yet ordered the new pork buns from the kitchen.Food itself was below average. There wasn’t many choices available and some of the plates we ordered were already cold 🙁

Appalling customer service.Never have I felt compelled to write a review after a meal, but treatment by the cashier manager justifies this rating. It was a Wednesday evening. I was attracted to the $23.80 barramundi dish advertised at the front of their store. No terms and conditions to the dish were labelled.Upon sitting down and ordering the dish, I was told by the waitress the price for this dish was conditional upon ordering two more dishes. This condition wasn’t labelled anywhere but the waitress mentioned I could take the additional dishes home if it was too much eat. Not appropriate advertising, but I was ok ordering a few more to take home. Chose a $5.80 and $13.80 dish.Whilst eating, I hear the cashier manager and a few waitresses insulting a previous customer that just left. I was quite taken aback by the comments. When time came for the bill, I was asked for payment whilst still eating. Was told I could still eat but the cashier was closing up so was requested to pay then. Not sure why since it was 9pm and they advertise close at 10:30pm. Wasn’t an issue for me and was happy to help so I asked to see the bill. Then came the issues. The bill had the $5.80, $23.80 but $26.80 instead of $13.80. I asked what the $26.80 was as I ordered the $13.80 dish. Cashier manager came to the table and snidely remarked that we don’t sell that dish for $13.80. I asked for the menu and pointed to the item I ordered, $13.80. The waitress that took my order agreed. The cashier manager said this was a lunchtime order only. I then asked why the order was agreed to when I pointed to it when ordering and why I was not told it was a lunchtime order only. She said the Chinese characters on the side mentioned it was for lunchtime. I asked why it wasn’t in English, why I was not stopped from ordering and why I was charged $13 extra for something I didn’t order. No adequate response was given. The cashier manager consistently blamed me for the error and rudely told me that I needed to pay up, all this whilst I was in the middle of eating. Even the waitress who took my order was apologising for the error.Feeling incredibly ticked off, I took out my credit card to pay the almost $60 bill. Cashier manager mentioned cash only, otherwise the barramundi dish is $43.80. Say what?I argued that this was against the law, given all the misadvertising. I am even paying the additional $13 which I should not have been charged. You either take the credit card payment or face action with the full force of the law. She grudgingly took the payment. Never have I dealt with such poor treatment at a restaurant. When leaving for the lift, I overheard her asking other waitresses whether I had left or not. A final insult was thrown across the room as I entered the lift. This was one of the most appalling experiences I have had at a restaurant, driven by a cashier manager with no regard for the law, let alone customer service. To all those wishing to eat here, the best advice I could give would be to choose somewhere else.

Thinking about Peking Duvk all night, we took a punt and head to Sunny Deafood Restaurant.Ordered Peking Duck 2 course, Oyster Mushroom with Chinese Broccoli and Pork Belly slow cooked in preserved veggie.Despite being a hectic night the food came out timely and the service was great. All dishes ordered today are great. The winner is the Peking Duck dishes, second one being San Choy Bow. The Pekung duck Pancake comes preassembled in half moon shape and taste really good. All ingredients are equally represented no wonder we finished it in no time. The second course being San Choy Bow is also devine. It’s not overpowered with onion and garnished with water chestnut providing extra texture to the already well represented duck meat and duck skin. The pork belly is probably one of the best we had for a long time. Its so soft we hardly need any efforts to chew it. The preserved veggie is complemented with fresh bok choy providing the extra texture to this dish. The Oyster Mushroom and Chinese Broccoli is also very good. All ingredients are cut in prefect sizes making it effortless to enjoy. Can’t really fail this dish. Bottom line : Great food. Good service. Good Value.

Quite possibly the worst Chinese service I’ve experienced in Sydney. Waited over 2 hours for all mains to arrive. Take your money elsewhere.

I have been to this yum Cha at least 20 times. I have been to yum Cha at just about every location in Sydney and this one is def one of my favs. You can ask for the dishes you would like them to bring u if something u like has not come past or caught ur eye. It’s reasonable in price the service is friendly and I have never had a bad item or experience!
