Been here about 3 times now,it’s pretty nice gelato,my partner really liked the cookies and cream, this time I had the mango sorbet which was nice and sweet, the strawberry and berry sorbet was ok with seeds in it. Prices are reasonable, nil issues with service, pretty nice option for gelato here
Between you and me, I am somewhat of a gelato connoisseur; or a gelato fiend if you will. It is one of those things that I cannot get enough of and will probably never ever be sick of. So you can imagine my excitement when I first stumbled upon Darling Gelato. It was the middle of winter, cruising around Balmain in the car with the thermostat dialled right up. I was craving and the intended destination was closed. As luck would have it (or my stubbornness in refusing to give up without my gelato fix), Darling gelato was open and waiting. There are 24 flavours on rotation with a mixture of your classics, sorbets and a few exotics. I’ve been told all gelatos are made in house and fresh daily. They also do waffles, coffee and some other fanfare but I’ve never tried any and therefore cannot comment. The gelato itself is silky smooth, creamy and incredibly light. I am definitely picky with my gelato and was absolutely delighted (and a little surprised) that it was so good! It is certainly up there with the best of Sydney and because I always visit late nights, there is seldom anyone else there which means the gelato is well chilled and not sloppy unlike some of the more popular ones where the fridge blinds are always up and the gelato is left to the elements. I did, last week buy a 1L tub (4 flavours $25) but found it all tasted the same once I got home. Funny thing that. Guess I’ll just have to frequent Balmain more often. Ps: try the panna cotta!
Quiet little place in the area with a small selection of gelato and decent coffee. The gelato was nice but nothing too spectacular, and the place looked a little tired. However, it’s a great dessert parlour to pop by for something sweet with the family if you’re craving dessert after dinner.
Had warm waffles with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce . They were good but not outstanding, gelato wasn’t memorable but solid. Definitely very tasty though and would return.
Lovely gelato, best tea around, and beautiful coffee’s. The girls are always smiling and friendly. Although there are many gluten free gelato brands, hot food options may leave you disappointed. Generally a very nice little cafe.
Better tasting gelato than Messina and no queues
Sooo yummy and well-priced. Totally underrated. They serve generous portions and it’s not as busy as Messina.
