All a bit ho hum. The refurbished dining space under the dome is certainly better than it was, but the alcoves are horrendously dark (let’s face it there is no light at all). The tables are wobbly, the bench seats uncomfortable.We order from the bar. I had prawn and haloumi salad, wife had chicken and haloumi on kale. The haloumi was cooked some time between 2012 and 2013. Hard. Cold. Rubbery. Yuck. The prawns were small, obviously frozen, texture of moosh. The dressing was however pleasant (looking for positives here!).No music, but the buzz of fellow patrons helped carry the day.The old man boozer front bar was an anachronism. I looked for Frank Hyde, as this is a place he would’ve loved, only then remembering he died more than 10yrs ago. So too did the patronage in this place.

Superb service from the bar staff – always smiling and clearing empty plates and dirty napkins from our tables. Food is upgraded pub food that’s done with care and generous in portion…above average compared to other claimed to be ‘gastro pubs’. Would return and recommend to others!
