Great publicity but unfortunately the donuts really do not live to the expectations I had. $19 for a box of 4 donuts is already questionable, but the fact that the original glaze and the matcha flavour were barely distinguishable is just not acceptable. This is something many reviewers here have already touched on, but the staff that I was served by sounded like she would rather be at home. Was not greeted by her and was only ushered by her to place an order at the Dirty Bird food truck next to the donut stand (strange payment method). Not a great touch at all. The sweet glaze is reminiscent of an artificial taste that is everything but charming. I really wanted to love this place and share it with all my friends, but honestly, I would happily spend my money elsewhere.
Had the strawberry version at the cherry blossom festival on the weekend. Only strawberry available and only singles on offer. At 10am they really had very little stock leaving me to believe that these were not freshly made donuts. At about 10.30 they were completely sold out. And the place was empty at this time. Sad service – girls didn’t seem impressed to be there but maybe because they knew they had hardly any donuts to actually sell. the actual donuts had a great texture and the flavour was lovely. Good to try once
It was not bad, however we had a problem with the weekly flavour which was the kaya coconut. We bought a whole box of 12 donuts (which I must say was pretty expensive), half original and half kaya. They looked exactly the same. The kaya ones were not green like the pictures we saw. We had to convince ourselves that the kaya ones were coconut-y because they didnt taste all that different from one another, which is kind of sad.Wish the flavours were more distinct (and yes, they told us it was both flavours in the box)
Demochi doughnuts are the perfect combo of crispy + chewy. The original honey glazed favour is sweet but not over the top. The Royal milk tea with sesame flavour is my favourite of the two, despite the milk tea flavour being weak. The doughnuts are pricey at $19 for 4 (half n half) and service could’ve been a bit better but the mochi doughnuts themselves are a definite must try.
