I took my mother here for her birthday on recommendation of a friend, mixed experience, coffee was great and nice atmosphere unfortunately experience was ruined by surly disinterested server ( French waitress) who was more interested in chatting to other staff and content to pretend we did not exist. Water was requested to her several times and food plonked on table without even a smile, such a shame to have an experience ruined by wait staff that clearly do not care for their jobs or customers, perhaps this is the way in France but we expect more down under.
Follow up lunch review. Went back for lunch and highly recommend the lamb burger! Yum mo!27 Dec, 2014Beautiful Breaky. Lovely place for breakfast. Great service , food, coffee and atmosphere .
Charming. A charming cafe well place on Plumer Road. I’ve only been here for breakfast but the lovely light-filled historic atmosphere, great coffee and delicious hotcakes keep me coming back as often as I can. Highly recommended.
Went to bernasconi’s last week-end with a friend and was sorely dissapointed. We were totally ignored, and had to flag down a waitress to even get a menu! Then no-one came to take our order. Again we finally got someone’s attention, and the waitress seemed very put out that we were taking up her time, big attitude! We waited…..and waited….and waited….after asking where our food was (drinks had arrived) our waitress rushed off to check…..but didn’t return to tell us what had happened. Almost 1 hour has now passed, so we walked out. They were half full, we would have been a little more understanding had they been packed, after hearing good things about this place, we were very dissapointed at the level of service and the bad attitude we copped from the wait staff. Avoid this place!
Consistently Good. Live nearby and have dined here regularly over the last 3 years. You simply do not get a bad meal here, whether its breakfast or lunch. The portion sizes are generous and the prices are fair. It’s always busy and there’s a very good reason why…..
Fantastic. My first impression was mixed. We arrived at 11.00, the place was packed, and when I asked one of the patrons if the 2 seats next to her were available, she replied so rudely that I had a bad feeling about it!We ordered and asked some toast before our meals… but the waitress said to us we might not get them because the kitchen was busy… Not very customer friendly! When the food arrived, it was a different story. The waitress changed her attitude, was even smilling… and the food: fantastic !This has to be to the best breakfast I have had in a long time in Sydney. Everything was made from fresh produce and tasted great!I highly recommend this place!
Great beans on toast and coffee. I like this place. Well situated on the corner of O’Sullivan and Plumer. Views to Woollahra Golf course and of the Mum’s illegally double-parking their 4WDs. I almost always order the baked bans on sour dough, with spinach and poached egg. Filling and tasy. Coffee is a high point. Good baristas, friendly staff, makes for a winning formula. I am a regular and am happy to keep coming back.
