First time in Canterbury RSL. Was surprised to see it so nice and lovely. They have undergone some renos and still are fixing a few things including the parking. Lavico is an Italian restaurant situated inside. They didn’t take last min bookings on Dimi so we went and waited, in the meantime walked around the club. Only 30m of waiting we got the call that our table was ready. We started with mixed dips and bruschetta. Dips were ok, but one piece of pita bread only… amongst 4 ppl… meant not even a piece each. We asked for more bread. It was delivered. Bruschetta could have done with more salt but was fresh and ice. For mains 2 of my parties got the seafoood plate which was awesome. Fresh well cooked seafood and a good variety. Another got the veal and I got the seafood in sauce special. Calamari, 3 prawns, octopus and vongole in a thick tomato chilli sauce served with bread. Was delicious and very spicy. Quality and cooking of the seafood was awesome but for $36 the portion size was a little low. Needed more of it. The bowl it was served in was small too. But what we had was delicious. Look forward to trying other dishes and bringing more friends here. Service was polite. Ambience was great.

Although the risotto and pasta wasnt al dente as it should be, but they still tasted nicely. The prosciutto pappardelle has got a generous amount of prosciutto in it. Tiramisu dessert was nice, the hazelnut gelato was a perfect match to it. Very happy with the friendly staff, will go back to try other dishes.
