Bluefin is probably one of the freshest sushi places you will find in the Canterbury area. Price is a little bit expensive but I guess you get what you’re paying for!
Unbeatable freshness of Assorted sashimi set from blue fin belmore. This place has been known for fresh sashimi. It takes about 40 mins drive away from my town. It is worth traveling to have this once a week 🙂 Gotta try !
Never ending quest for great sushi in the west led us to try this Japanese + Korean place in humble Belmore.Service was fine and efficient, and I want to point out they were very tolerant of the drunken business men on the table next to us who were clicking their fingers at them and barking their orders in choppy broken English (ie. how racists talk to Asians).Food however, was a bit of a let down. What we got: Deluxe sushi set for two, $36. The grilled cheese scallops had a spoonful of rice under them – a really yummy mouthful that I wish I had a few more of.The eel, inari (sweet fried tofu pouch) and the white fish were nice, the salmon was just OK, cooked tuna roll was OK, but the rest made me gag, literally. No wasabi on the side or under the fish/on the rice, and the soy sauce was completely wrong – tasted more like a strong Chinese cooking soy.The fish/scampi was either tasteless or fishy. The rice didn’t taste seasoned/plain. Unpleasant! Basically only liked one raw thing on the platter.I did see many tables ordering sashimi boats though, perhaps we got some bad fish? Eel kabayaki was four pieces of fat, tender, delicious grilled eel. This was so good.Complimentary grilled fish ‘gills’, said the girl who set down a dish we hadn’t ordered in front of us. What a lovely thing to do for patrons. So yum, fatty luscious juicy fish cheeks.I think it is a bit strange they give this away for free when this can be sold as a dish (like they do elsewhere), and it was so delicious I would definitely order it.We also got one Korean dish: Calamari sashimi in ice with vinegary chilli sauce. The sauce is spicy and yum, typical Korean soybean paste flavour, comes with a bowl of rice noodles to dip into the chilled-on-ice sauce or mix in, up to you. We dipped. Squidgy chilled calamari salad. Yum but too large a portion for two to share, as the one flavour gets a bit tiresome after a while. Interesting dish though!I think if I came back, I would stick to the cooked dishes, avoid sushi/sashimi, and definitely get the unagi don, but with so many choices around, I probably won’t be back.
The freshest Sashimi every time, simple quality Japanese food exceptional value. Blue Fin is a simple but fantastic Japanese restaurant, if you love Sashimi then look no further because this place has never failed to produce high quality fresh fish! (When you’ve had food poisoning from other places you appreciate quality!) The staff are friendly, fast and always bring out a complimentary dish throughout the meal. The sushi rolls are generous with big chunks of salmon or tuna and avocado and the set meals are such good value for what you are given, a great range of sashimi, sushi rolls and teriyaki or katsu chicken.. what more do you need! They also have lovely tempura, agadashi tofu and they serve beer! The ONLY place I go when I want fresh, quality Sashimi!
First of all: this is a KOREAN SUSHI PLACE. So previous people reviewing about how this ‘Japanese sushi’ place wasn’t what they thought it was. I am a local and can honestly say my family visits at least twice a month. The sushi is fresh and made to order. The udon soup is amazing. The udon soup isn’t as sweet as other Japanese sushi places I’ve had. Also their agashi tofu is delicious! (Haven’t tasted any as good as this one).
Grilled Fish Head. Cooked by its own fat around the meat, this dish should be their signature dish. Don’t go home without trying this dish.
Nice and fulfilling!. I had the fried chicken inside out sushi and my brother had the fried prawn sushi. I thought the sushi was good and the servicer was great. everyone was so nice so it was an enjoyable experience as it was my first visit here. my brother who is a picky eater, especially when it came to prawns, loved the fried prawn inside out sushi! couldn’t get a photo of that because he demolished it all so quickly!!
