Walked in with no expectations, not realising it was a teppenyaki restaurant til being seated. I’ve only been to one teppenyaki restaurant before when I was young, but it was my partners first time and he really enjoyed it. Service is amazing! Very Attentive. Chef was great! He noticed that I did not eat meat without me saying and cooked food to suit. Will happily recommend this place and be back with more guests

My first time teppanyaki with my friends and I thought it was a good night. I enjoyed watching the chef prepare our food and o also enjoy the taste and the atmosphere of the place. I would be coming back.

We had an awful experience at Asahi. During our meal the chef began throwing hot food and raw eggs at us. No, I am NOT joking. It was the most bizarre teppanyaki experience I’ve ever had–not the usual jovial and fun tricks, but actually being pelted with hot rice and raw eggs which we were meant to catch in bowls. One of the eggs landed in my handbag. When we politely called the server over to point out that there was raw egg and egg shell in my handbag, she said immediately that it was my fault for having the bag on my chair. We didn’t even get an apology, let alone a discount. Then she had the audacity to bring over the menu where there was a disclaimer claiming that the restaurant took no responsibility if our clothes were ruined. Then she handed us our bill and still yelling about the incident being our fault. The restaurant otherwise is filthy and I bet would not pass a health inspection. BEWARE. DO NOT EAT HERE. You’ll literally leave with egg on your face.

Was ok… up until the waitress went to hand my husband sauce without notice over his shoulder and resulted in sauce spilt all over his white shirt. When we said something about her carelessness she said it was not her fault. We corrected her pointing out that a person should not hand things over peoples shoulders without verbalising what they are doing she then offered to dry clean his shirt and we said we are not from the area and came out this way to take our grandfather out for dinner. She did not offer anything else. We understand that my husband chose a bad coloured shirt to wear.. but the fact he managed to keep the shirt completely clean up until the point of the waitress and her carelessness and then reluctantant accountability. The chefs were quite boring. We have been to many teppanyaki restaurants before and found this restaurant to be dull .. and first time ever that we left still feeling hungry.

Went on a busy Saturday night without a booking and was lucky enough to be seated straight away. This is a family friendly restaurant and can get incredibly noisy as kids and adults have a ball doing the one thing we are always told not to do, play with food. Generally speaking, you come here for one thing and one thing only, their teppanyaki. Set menus are usually the way to go and the three of us decided to splurge with the ‘Emperor’s Course’ at $70pp. Starters included a seaweed and prawn salad, fish cake soup, assorted tempura, and some tuna and salmon sashimi. Unfortunately the sashimi did not taste fresh and was a bit of a let down. Everything else was quite tasty. Our chef had a very dry sense of humour and was bags of fun. Seafood and meats were also cooked very well but the climax of the meal was definitely the various methods of catching the eggs and cooked rice. I felt sometimes we were so enthralled in the theatrics that our food had sat there going cold before we remembered to eat it. For dessert we chose the red bean pancake, which was cooked in front of you on the grill, as well as the banana fritter and fresh fruit platter. Service was friendly and attentive but it did feel as if we were pushed to leave as we were handed the bill as soon as dessert plates were cleared and one of our companions had his plates removed halfway through eating his fried rice. Overall the night was great fun and full of laughs. However was the price of the food value for money? Probably not, but there are cheaper options available and they looked just as satisfying.
