Easily the worst Chinese food we have ever eaten. Most dishes were so bland they were left uneaten. I don’t know how you can take the taste out of Sang Choy Bow, but they did it. The chicken in one dish tasted like it had been soaking for days in soda bicarbonate (!), and the stir fried vegetables were drowning in bland glue sauce. Even the fried rice & noodles survived 2 hungry teens, pretty much untouched. The only edible things were the salt & pepper squid, beef belachan & laksa. Mind you – just edible, not great.

Comfort food?. Er… Went here for a group dinner and it’s plain old Aussie Chinese food, perhaps what you’d have gotten from your local RSL growing up. So, some people will love it for the comforting, nostalgic feel of it all. But I thought the food was kind of awful. Cheap, though. I’ve heard that Hurstville would have been a better suburb to eat Chinese food… andyquan.com
Below Average at Beverly Hills. Food quality was way below average relative to other Chinese restaurants at Beverly Hills. We ordered a deep fried fish fillet with corn soups which tasted like clay. Also had a combination fried noodles and we wanted to change the thick noodles to thin noodles. The waitress placed our order without letting us know that there was a surcharge of $4 to change just the noodle type which, of course, was not stated on the menu. The restaurant was dishonest and it was a terrible dinning experience.

Tasted like home cooking with a modern touch.. Overall it was quite a pleasant experience. Friendly service and the food was good value for money.
