Located inside Blacktown Bowling Club, this family friendly Cafe/Restaurant is a great new addition to the Club. The dining area has modern vibe with indoor and outdoor seating area. They also have children play area inside. As a start, the coffee is amazing, from Tobys Estate. For lunch we had several dishes from them including Seafood Tasting Plate, Mushroom Risotto, Calamari and Ribs w/ Onion Rings. All dishes are quite good but our favourites are the Mushroom Risotto (amazing!) and the Calamari with Thai dipping sauce (yum). The onion rings also crispy and tasty. The dessert that we had was the Sticky Date Pudding. It was the bomb. Definitely one of the best Ive tasted!Overall we had an amazing dining experience there.
Where to start… ok, so the Bowling Club was given a much needed facelift – excellent news. However in the process of said facelift, the kitchen has been leased to new tenants (formerly Charlies Family Restaurant).Aesthetically, the food looks amazing. Sadly, the presentation of the food is a lot better than the flavour. The garlic bread was insanely salty. While the menu quotes fresh Australian garlic, I couldnt help but think lol where though??.I ordered Chicken Parma which was just tomato paste topped with a slice of soccer ball ham and mozzarella. The chicken schnitzel was one of those par cooked and frozen specials. The crumb separated from the meat completely. I really liked the salad, but thats not why you choose to order a bloody Parma is it?Hubby ordered the Chicken Funghi. For a dish that depends on the sauce, and although it was covered in it, the sauce tasted like cooking cream just heated through. Couldnt taste the mushroom. Again, the best thing on the plate was the side of roast potatoes. The prices have gone up, which I dont condemn as its still affordable. Whats the point when the food is mediocre? The other issue I had was the kids play area. Its very close to one end of the main dining area and is completely open air; if you arent keen on listening to screaming children while dining, take this as your warning.
