Children not welcome. Average food, service and experience. We attended the venue for a special birthday dinner and the food and drink service was terribly slow and we were constantly asking for more drinks/ tables to be cleared. We had to bring a 10 month old baby and there was no high chair (the message was given to a family member but was not passed on). We were happy to improvise and put her in her pram. Not long after arrival my husband took our daughter to look out the window to entertain her and the chef/owner was quiet obvious in stating to another employee his disgust that there was a baby in the restaurant. Later in the evening, after I had had enough, I asked the chef/owner why they do not provide them and he said ‘why would I put a high chair in a restaurant when I can be getting $100 for a meal’. He also stated they do not welcome kids. We were also unable to bring a birthday cake, when questioned about this he said ‘would you bring beer to a pub?’. We have been previously and the food and service was great. Tonight the food was slow, the pork was overcooked, the cod was undercooked and the rest was not worth the money they expect. We are always happy to pay for great service and great food, unfortunately we received neither and to add insult to injury the arrogance of the owner was appalling and really dampened the special occasion. We certainly won’t be returning, nor recommending. #nokids #notfamilyfriendly #millthorpe #crapservice
Went to this place for dinner last night and it lived up to our expectations! We were welcomed very nicely and had a nice seat by the window. We ordered an entree, main and dessert and all were very nice! I had the blue eye cod with gnocchi and it was delicious. The wine selection is fantastic, mostly local. It is up there in price, so probably wouldn’t be suitable for lots of children, but overall a great restaurant.
Disappointment and apparently they don’t care. We arrived and saw Matt Moran was here – so we had high expectations. The food was generally pleasant but honestly, meals lacked any sense of kick or wow. Sweetbreads were actually tough and the food bordered on being cool or barely warm at best! Entrees served almost immediately after the order was taken, before the wine was even served, however it then took around 1 1/2 hrs for the main by which time our wine was spent. Our male waiter wandering back and forth past our table, seeming to avoid eye contact. Other tables were openly complaining about orders not being taken and then food not being delivered. On only one occasion during the evening did someone refill our glasses. At the end, we decided to forego dessert because the mood in the room had become unpleasant and the lack of attention and service from our waiter was absolutely annoying. Have sent email feedback to the restaurant which was not even acknowledged.
