Whilst visiting from interstate we travelled to Bondi and enjoyed lunch here last Friday. Day was a little chilly but we still opted to sit outside on the undercover deck area. The view was nice and there were heaters on also. Hubby and I shared the king prawn taco and pulled lamb pizza both were very tasty. I personally would have liked more pulled lamb on my pizza. Service was friendly and helpful and our waiter even gave us some suggestions of what we could do after our lunch.

I had been to Vue Bar once previously around 18 months ago and found it to have great service and enjoyed our cocktails. So when we headed there once again I was looking forward to a similar experience. Unfortunately, it was not. Our order was taken fairly quickly – we chose some oysters and two Bloody Mary cocktails. Our friends had ordered their drinks (a beer and a cocktail) about 10 minutes before we got there. After maybe 10 minutes, a beer arrived and a cocktail 5 minutes later. The oysters arrived reasonably quickly, and were fresh, but the dressing was not overly exciting. We were waiting at least 20 minutes and our drinks still had not arrived. I have to point out that the bar was not very busy, there were at least 3 wait staff wondering around, and 2 staff behind the bar. Eventually we thought our order had been forgotten and flagged down a waitress to advise her. Our cocktails finally arrived about 10 minutes after that. At least they were a decent bloody mary! I was not very happy that we waited over half an hour for 2 drinks, especially as it was not a busy afternoon. When we went to pay, we got charged for 4 Bloody Mary’s even though we only ordered (and received) 2. When we pointed it out to the waitress she said she would have to check with the manager whether they could be removed from the bill. The manager was polite and took them off and apologised for the error. I have to say though, I found the overall service lacking and while it is a stunning view, I won’t be going back any time soon.

The staff was okay, the pizza we ordered was so small for the $20 that it costs. It was good but not special. Too expensive but nice view at Bondi beach.

A Thursday night, no reservation, we rocked up about 7pm and were lucky to get a table for three on one of the high tables. Because of this, it was a smidge cramped, both the seating and when the food came out. But basically, if you’re wanting a Sydney experience (particularly for out-of-towners), it really is a spectacular thing to be out on a balcony, overlooking Bondi, on a summer evening (and on a Thursday night you can watch the Bondi Icebergs pool being refilled by the ocean). Both servers had their hands full, having to take care of the whole balcony, and were charming and efficient. The food was fine, though don’t get your hopes up for fine dining. The gnocchi, paella and calamari were all tasty enough. That plus two beers was $80 for the three of us. It would be better to make a reservation to guarantee you a comfortable spot. andyquan.com

Amazing again Great food and service The restaurant was extremely busy with a waitlist, I was seated at the bar for a drink and then seated promptly as soon as a table came available.I would book next time to avoid disappointment Suggestion try the prosciutto wrapped scallops amazing and order some bread for the amazing sauce.Definitely will come back again:-)Lil

I do realize that this is not a Michelin starred restaurant, but dear me, I also think that you can expect some sort of standard when you go out to eat. Unfortunately, the standard at this bar was very poor!! It was one of the worst dinging experiences we have ever had!! Where do I start? Having entered the bar, which was a very small but with a good view over the Bondi beach. There was not much space for anything and only about 20 cm away from another table. The menu cards were ABSOLUTELY disgusting, covered in oil and all sorts of dirst. We were sitting for 15-20 minutes before waitress (very unprofessionaly trained!) took our order. We had to wait for our coffees for another 20 minutes. My husband’s coffee came first!.. and my coffee came 5 minutes late. And then we were waiting…waiting…waiting for 40 minutes!! before my husband’s order hit the table. And waitress brought a bottle of water with dirty glasses for us!! After sharing tiny burgers ( two bites each), I was still waiting for my scallops for another 30 minutes!! At that point we decided that we already waisted more than 1.5 hours on waiting for our food and honestly we’ve lost our appetite because of the lack of hygiene in this place, so we cancelled our order. And surprisingly enough we didn’t get even an apology from the manager Alex but he gave us really bad attitude with dirty smile on his face! I would strongly recommend NOT to go to the Vue bar to any one!! We are definitely not coming back there!! And I really hope that owner can read this review!!

The Balcony overlooking Bondi beach is divine! The beach themed decor is also lovely and very suitable for the area. In terms of the food, quite on par for small tapas servings. The food is nothing to write home about, while palatable, could definitely whip it up at home. View and cocktails definitely worth a visit though!
