I looked forward to trying Chir Chir in Burwood. We ordered the garlic fried chicken and mango salad topped with yoghurt and blueberries. Surprisingly I enjoyed the mango salad more, as the fried chicken was disappointing.
Really enjoyed Chir Chir. If youre a fan of fried chicken you must try this place out. Bimbimbap was my favourite although Im not too fond of the runny cheese on my chicken. Would recommend this place
There’s three types of chicken you can get here: chicken on the bone, chicken wings or boneless chicken. Then there’s three different flavors: plain, garlic and chili. Our favorite combination is wings with garlic, but I’d recommend you get the wings with all three flavors so you try a bit of everything. The spicy seafood soup is like that of other Korean restaurants. The bimbimbap didn’t have a crispy outer shell despite us leaving it before mixing. They also had a 9.95 meal box which a variety of toppings. This dish was alright, but I’d suggest you take out some of the chili to begin with, in case it’s too spicy after mixing.
A Korean fusion restaurant specialising in fried chicken. Nice ambience with modern settings. There are many creative chicken combinations on the menu with melted cheese. The highlights will be their popular dish, Venus Cheesy Chicken. Crispy strips smothered in variety of cheeses with a cheese sauce poured over a cast iron pan on a gas burner at the start. I was expecting they would let the cheese sauce bubbling away until we finished the dish but they actually turned off the gas burner after 2 mins. It seemed pointless & waste of effort for the whole set up. The Kimchi & Sausage Soup was a let down. The picture on the menu was quite deceiving, the soup came to our table looked nothing like it. The kimchi taste was too strong & salty overwhelmed the 24 hr beef stock. The soup only tasted like Shin Ramyun Noodle Soup whityou can buy in the supermarket. Friendly service but the prices are more on slightly expensive side.
We visited on a Saturday night and service was pretty quick. We ordered Half Spicy Chicken and Half Original Chicken, Beef Bibimbap, and Quid Tentacle. The bibimbap and quid tentacle came out first and we had to wait a while for the chicken. The spicy chicken was my favourite as it was crispy and the sauce was mouthwatering. If I visit again I wouldnt get the original chicken because it tastes pretty standard, nothing special. The bibimbap was pretty good too.
I really enjoyed their mixed box, it looks like bibimbap and it was really delicious! It was quite affordable as well. I would go here often if I work or live nearby. Their fried chicken is quite nice as well, a lot of meat, not too much batter and not that oily.
I’ve always wanted to dine at Chir Chir since the last time we visited Burwood and saw the queue for this restaurant. In preparation, I called for a reservation in case a Thursday night will be the same as a weekend night. Good to know its not the same. Once we arrived, we were ushered to our table and handed out the menu. It was a fusion of anything international with Korean food. It was actually weird. They have nachos and they also have pizza and pasta. We ordered the garlic wedges, kimchi soup and half half of the chicken (garlic and original). Oh also extra steam rice. Our wedges arrived first. i didn’t expect raw garlic to be sprinkled on the wedges. I would have expected that the wedges were cooked on a garlic laden oil or sprinkled with crispy garlic. So we have to scrape out most of the garlic when eating. The Kimchi soup came next. it was okay. Enough kick to get more rice into your mouth. The chicken arrived last. I must say it was not as good as I wanted it to be. The original flavor was bland. It needs a dipping sauce to give it a little lift. The soy garlic on the other hand was pretty good. We should have ordered that instead of doing the half half thing. Anyway, it was a good meal. Unfortunately, after a few hours my husband and I had terrible stomach aches. And the pain continues the following day. I must say we spent quite some time inside the toilet. hohum. Paid $59 for the entire meal.Would I still come back for more? Nah. I don’t think so. I’ve tried better Korean Fried Chicken somewhere. mypostcardtrail.com
