This is a good pub, unlike the beach hotel there isn’t a great outdoor area. They’ve got a restaurant and cocktail bar off to the left which is really cool, the food is great and the cocktails are amazing.

Had a drink at this place NYE. Had a great vibe and met a couple of nice people. Will try the food too some other time but looks like it would be great for pub meal after viewing what others were eating.

I read recently that the chef at the Northern had changed and that the new one had worked at Tetsuya’s in Sydney. Being keen on fine dinning I headed down with a few friends. We were welcomed in to a brand new, classy modern restaurant with a great looking cocktail bar. The menu combines pub classics with more elegant dishes. I had 12hour braised lamb shoulder which melted in my mouth followed by an amazingly wobbly pana cotta. My friends were equally impressed with their meals, they had an impressive chicken parmigiana, roasted chicken breast and butternut pumpkin risotto. We finished the night with their ‘Dusk Till Dawn’ cocktail – which is their take on an espresso martini with some added cream and cookie – delicious. Altogether I was very impressed by the food and service and I’d recommend the restaurant to anyone.

My friend and I ate at this venue over the easter long weekend. We ordered a steak and a parmagiana. The parma sounded really nice on the menu however when it came out it was dry, lacked sauce, lacked cheese, had a measly leaf of basil on top and was just generally dry and tough to get through. It was supposed to come with roasted potatoes however it came with low quality chips. The steak was not as promised on the menu and was extremely fatty, mushroom sauce was pureed and had an odd flavour. The worst thing about the venue is not actually the food it is the service and the staff. At every encounter they are rude, snobbish and just generally cant be assed with you being there. I asked a male waiter where the toilets were and he literally walked off and rolled his eyes. I was shocked. He later approached me to tell me they were out there and gestured generally in the direction of the public bar. When I politely complained that the parma was dry the waitress just said ‘oh’ and walked away. The experience at this venue was horrible. I would never go there and never recommend it to anyone.
