This was a really disappointing experience in general apart from the lovely waitress who made do with what she had to work with. We waited an hour for spring rolls and another half hour for our mains which was really disappointing in itself but the worst was yet to come. I ordered the Tempura king prawn red curry dish and my partner ordered the snapper. The red curry was tasteless, vegetables under cooked however the prawns were ok. The snapper dish was super disappointing as we had seen another persons dish come out and they had received a large fish which looked lovely, this one came out in two tiny portions with terrible presentation and zero taste also. As mentioned, the waitress was lovely but that could not make up for the wholly underwhelming experience, the chef looked disinterested and annoyed to be honest and I would not recommend anyone to go there. Avoid.
Very disappointing. I ordered the green curry with tofu. It came in a large bowl with steamed rice on the side. It was presented well with a large sprig of fresh basil leaves top the grilled tofu but I could see the problem. The vegetables were cut so large or whole that there was no way the chopsticks or Chinese spoon was going to pick them up without some danger to my new shirt. I tasted the tofu and it was OK but the large chunks of carrot were over cooked and the green curry was tasteless. I didn’t tackle the other vegetables but the asparagus looked firm at least. I paid the bill and left. I was how everything was and I replied it was terrible but again unfortunately I wasn’t pressed for feedback. BTW – Thai food is traditionally eaten with a fork and spoon – not chopsticks.
The food at Red Hot & Green is damn delicious. But do not rely the opening hours on here or anywhere else for that matter. I cannot count the amount of times I have travelled to Byron to have lunch here just to be severely disappointed when he is not open. Don’t bother calling as it seems as there is no one there to answer the phone even if it is open! It happened just today as a matter of fact! Come on Red Hot & Green, give us some consistency.
Worst Thai EVER!!!!. This restaurant had the worst Thai food I have EVER tasted! And was ridiculously expensive. If you don’t want to throw your money down the drain don’t go to this place. I think it must survive on first time people visiting Byron that never come back. I was that disappointed with my take away meal that for the first time ever I called up the place to tell them. The owner made ridiculous excuses (saying it was because the food was in a take away container) and offered no apology or money back. One of my worst food experiences to date.
