The tree house is accommodating for large groups as it has huge communal tables in the front areas. The downside to hosting groups is they don’t do split bill which can be hard.I ordered the Grass fed sirloin steak (300g) which was divine. No photos taken (it was dark and I was very hungry due to long wait times) but it was delicious. Apparently the pizzas here are their speciality so I’ll have to come back to try.
The treehouse makes pretty good pizza. The environment is warm if not a little grungy and loud depending on where you are sitting. I’m a local gal and last night took the family out. As I am gluten free I started exploring the menu beyond the pizza (extra $4 for gf base and a little doughy). I ordered the mussels from the mains at $24. The dish was the smallest mussels I have ever seen, hailing from Fremantle, WA where you order a mains mussels and it is served in a huge bowl. I was shocked and disappointed that I had got to the end of my week and this was my feast! I made the most of it though, the sauce lacked care, depth and delicacy but the chilli and the plump cherry tomatoes made it redeemable. My partner ordered the calamari which was perfectly delicious and soft although served on a cold brown rice salad with sauerkraut and raw vegies which was a little abrupt and incohesive. We ordered French rose and a Clare Valley Riesling which were both lacklustre. My teen was happy as Larry with her lemon lime bitters and pizza and she kindly shared to help us fill our bellies. Great fun place to take a bunch of teenagers or to jump in on some up vibe but lacks the delicacy and attention to detail La Scarpetta loves.
Food was great – we loved the wood fired pizzas – slightly overpriced for my standard. Service and Ambience are pretty average for the price. Would return for the food, but wouldn’t be my 1st choice.
Came up from Melbourne for the week and ate here twice as it was next door to our hostel. On the first occasion we had the Apple pie cocktails and nachos which were great but the service was far from it. The waitresses did not want to attend to us when we were trying to get their attention and took a really long time to get us water. We returned for lunch a couple days later at a quieter time and the same service was received. I got the fish tacos and the fish was a tiny portion and wasn’t cooked very well at all. Unfortunately my least favourite meal in Byron. BUT, if you do go I can definitely recommend the Apple pie cocktail.
Really loved the look of this place! Cool setting. Interesting range of cocktails- mine was nice and very sweet. Shared a pizza and nachos and they both were nice however nothing amazing! Staff were friendly however the food took a bit longer than expected considering the amount of people there.
