Refreshing and cheap Asian dessertsTaro Beauty serves Taiwanese desserts. It was previously Meet Fresh, they serve pretty much the same desserts. It is located on John street, Cabramatta. There is sufficient seating inside. Not pram and child friendly.My husband enjoys coming here for a refreshing dessert. It has an ongoing special of buying a drink and receiving a free dessert. The night we went, by purchasing the 1L drink – Kumquat Lemon Green Tea with Aloe Vera, you receive a dessert – Taro Beauty No. 6 (mini taro balls, red bean, and pearls). We also purchased a Taro Beauty Signature dessert. We were given a buzzer to pick up our order when it was ready.It didn’t take long for our order to be ready. The drink has an acquired taste. At first, I wasn’t too keen on the flavours but after a while it was okay. It wasn’t sour, it was sweet and refreshing. I liked the addition of the Aloe Vera jelly.The Taro Beauty No. 6 was enjoyable and refreshing. The taro balls were glutinous chewy pieces but I preferred the bigger size and more of it. The herbal jelly was soft and nice. The red bean was a bit sweet but when combined together, it wasn’t too sweet. The pearls were soft and chewy. The shaved ice was soft and yummy with the brown sugar syrup. The ice easily melted in the mouth, no chunky pieces.I wasn’t a fan of the Taro Beauty Signature dessert because of the tofu pudding. It tasted fake and just didn’t taste like the real tofu. That was such a let down as I like tofu. Everything else however from the taro balls, pearls and sweetnes level was just right.Verdict: For average, cheap and quick Asian desserts, give this place a go.
