A nice little cafe tucked away in Mac Square, Sergio’s is a gem of a store. With some decently priced items, they are definitely worth trying out if not returning to.I tried out their 6 yoyos, eclairs or profiteroles for $10 deal, getting a mix of each and was pleasantly surprised with what I got. The cream in the yoyo and the eclair were a bit too high in fat content and didn’t taste quite as refreshing as I would’ve liked even when they were straight out of the fridge. Although the chocolate icing on both of them were fantastic, the yoyo itself was a little dry and the cake overpowered the subtle cream flavours. On the other hand, the profiterole was absolutely delicious with the main differentiator being the cream which was superbly flavoured and cut through the the heaviness of the rest of the pastry just right! The choux pastry was a little soft and not quite as hard as I would’ve liked but I think that was an unavoidable aspect of buying items from shop windows. If you are considering buying the 6 for $10 deal, I would recommend just getting 6 profiteroles instead of bothering to get a mix as the others just are not worth it.I also had the privilege of trying out their caramel milkshakes which was a pleasant surprise for $4.50 with a nice depth of flavour without the cheap plastic taste of most syrup based milkshakes. For and extra 50c they were also kind enough to fill the top with whipped cream which was a nice addition.Overall, Sergio’s isn’t the most mind blowing cake shop around but with very nice servers and fairly decent food, they’re a good time worth going out of your way for!
