This a hip pub in Camperdown. Whether you sit in the front bar soaking up the sport on the massive TV or grab a table out the back and laugh at the awesome graffiti of Australia’s most famous and infamous – you will enjoy the vibe here. The menu is your typical pub fare, however, I can recommend the tacos, chicken wings and burgers. The tacos come out hot and the wings spicy. For me the best option though is the white chickpea and quinoa patty burger. Something about vego options always tempt me, they are usually the most flavoursome and this one was no different. I loved it, I must admit though that I added bacon to it as well – I just dont feel full unless I add meat to my meal. I was here on a Tuesday and it was full without being crowded. The prices are reasonable and they have a good selection of beers, spirits and cocktails. Worth a look for sure.
Since the takeover of the Hampshire by the group its.food has gotten heaps better! Burgers are phenomenal, tacos creative albeit a little too adventurous. Fried chicken and Wang’s are as you’d like – crunchy but juicy.
We picked up the sirloin, shnitzel and beef brisket taco. Taco was by far the best, chicken shnitzel was lightly crumbed and nice serve and the steak was well cooked but a tough cut of meat. All in all was above standard for a staple pub meal but the meat cuts were questionable and would have had a better rating if it met the standard.
Seriously good tacos at this place, I could not fault any one of them, and I tried a varied selection – fish, pulled pork, brisket and pork belly. All were sensational!
Great pub with a superb $10 menu. All the ten bucks meals seem great value and on Tuesdays even include a free beer or wine. Some more expensive specials and recently included one of the only decent curries I’ve had in Sydney. For the money it’s a cut above the average $10 place, and great that they do it all week. There are also events on most nights and if you can cope with all the Kiwis watching it, massive screen for the rugby in the courtyard. Trivia on Tuesday is a bit of an addiction at the moment, good to find a decent trivia night on a Tuesday in Sydney and easy to win prizes even for thickos like us!
