Waited a long time to be seated, they seemed overwhelmed despite not being overly packed. Once seated the service was very polite and friendly, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Good tonkatsu and udon.
The food and staff are okay but portion is very small. The chef talk about customers in Japanese even though I understand Japanese (but I pretended I didnt understand) and it was very unpleasant and rude.
The food was good but the service was bad. It just took too long. Probably won’t return my favourite thing was the fresh rolls perhaps get take away
Food was okay but service was horrendously bad for our table of 5. Took an hour for the first dish to arrive (after a few enquiries) and waitresses seemed flustered despite it not being a full house that night. Really disappointed by the service.
In the corner by the entrance sits a sushi counter. I love sushi counters. Sushi ought to be eaten at a sushi counter……but I’m with my family now and the kids need a place to sit. The waitress is very accommodating and helps us to our table. It’s a nice little place, well designed with large windows and simple decor. I note the daily specials on the wall and the karaage tuna and kisu tempura both catch my eye. Maybe next time though as we have already settled on our orders – the lunchtime sushi set for $15.50 sushi, salad, agedashi tofu and miso soup. This should be good.I enjoy the entree dishes first. My wife comments that the salad is nice (and it is) but that the dressing is quite strong. It seems that I am going to need a lot of ginger to remove the taste before I move on to the sushi. It’s okay, we’re eating a lunch set though I do take a peek at the counter. The sushi arrives. It looks nice though I am thinking that the plate is a tad large. The stars of the show, all eight pieces plus rolls, look a bit lonely sitting on it. But it’s okay, it’s just a lunch set. I glance over at the counter…I begin with the snapper whose texture I almost miss. I’m thinking to myself that I would like to try this one ala carte one evening. I try the fatty tuna. Its nicely formed and thick but alas, no melt. The salmon tastes basic and the aburi salmon has a quick singe of flavour to it but not much going on in the way of fat. Going through the rest of the pieces – the prawn, flying fish roe, egg, eel and tuna & salmon rolls – I am thinking to myself, not to worry, it’s only a lunch set……I steal another glance at the counter.Next time, I’m going ala carte.
We had a pretty decent meal at Sushi Masa. The service was alright, but one thing that was really strange was that we were only given one menu to share between three. When I asked for another menu, the waitress told us that there wasn’t enough to go around (say what? The restaurant was almost empty when we went!). So that was pretty strange. Anyway, we decided on some sashimi and hot food. Waiting time was pretty decent. The sashimi came first and it was really fresh and yummy! The duck udon was great as well, really different to the usual soup stock. However the noodles were a bit over cooked and soft. The tonkatsu was really nice too! It was probably the dish I enjoyed the most. The meat were cooked and fried well- really moist on the inside yet crispy on the outside! The only letdown was the serving size. It was really small and wasn’t really worth the price of $14. The chicken karaage was pretty average. Anyway, it was a pleasant meal all in all. The prices were quite reasonable too (except for the tonkatsu)!
Amazing deal for the lunch set. Sushi was fresh and portions were very generous. Will definitely be back to try the exciting specials on the board like duck udon!!
