Very much enjoyed it here. Its nothing fancy and offers a few tables to dine in. I returned here as enjoyed the meal a lot as reminded me of my childhood. Located close by to Campsie Station, it is on Beamish Street situated amongst quite a few other food places. There were lots of people on both occasions with takeaway to eat at home. Lured in by the glistening bbq meats in the window, I wasnt too sure if I needed to order at the counter or table but once I settled in at the table they took my order. Note it is cash only at this venue. They quickly brought some chopsticks, teacup (the teapots full of Chinese tea are located on each table), and a bowl of Chinese soup (complimentary). Exactly how I remembered it when I was younger. The service is friendly and very homely. I had ordered the Roast Duck & BBQ Pork With Rice. Freshly chopped meats on top of steaming rice and soy sauce with a side of Asian greens to round it off. Simple and effective, it tasted really good as the meats were lean and flavourful. Not fatty or full of bones like some other bbq shops Ive been to. My return visit was the same dish but with dry noodles instead. Just as good!If youre looking for a something quick and tasty then this is the place for you.
No. 1 BBQ house is recommended by my relatives and Hong Kong (not Chinese, ehem) coworkers, and I finally stopped by last week to find out why this place is so special. As I spotted the restaurant sign from afar, a long queue has been formed. The chef skillfully chopped up the order into equal pieces. You can choose the different types of flavors (BBQ, roasted, soy) to pair up with your meat choice (pork, duck, and chicken). Other dishes are beef, chicken feet, cuttlefish, etc.Since dining in is much more expensive (similar to Frangos in Lewisham), I took away a mouth-watering box of BBQ duck. My stomach was growling as I observed the meat cutting process. The BBQ duck tasted so fresh and flavourful. The skin was surprisingly not greasy but crisp and delicious. It was totally worth the wait. Bookmarked. You guys have to give it ago.
