My favourite place for pork chop riceBroken Rice Vietnamese Restaurant is known for its pork chop rice. They also serve other Vietnamese dishes including noodle soup. It is located at the top of Canley Vale Road, Canley Heights of the food strip. It has ample seating inside. Not pram friendly.I felt like pork chop rice and because my husband hadn’t tried it before, we decided to eat here. It was busy with a constant flow of customers. I had the usual: double pork chop rice with pickled carrot, fresh cucumber and a side of plain soup. My husband just ordered double pork chop rice with an egg and a side of plain soup. My kids just shared a small bowl of rice noodle soup with meat balls. We also ordered a lemon soda to drink. The waitress supplied us with plastic bowls and cutlery for the kids which is always useful when dining with kids. The food came out relatively quickly. The pork chop rice did not disappoint in flavour. The pork chop had enough flavour. The flavours were well balanced and with each bite it was moreish. My meal also came with a dipping sauce (nuoc cham) for added flavour for your pork chop and/or rice but I was happy without. I was however, disappointed that it was slightly overcooked. The plain soup was okay, it tasted like chicken broth with pepper. The pickled carrot and fresh cucumber complemented the dish. I liked the shallots cooked in oil.The kids noodle soup with beef balls was okay. I said it was okay to use chicken broth and it was nice and came out piping hot. The noodles were a little too soft for my liking.Staff were friendly and accommodating. I felt bad as my child was playing with the box of cutlery and it spilled all over the floor. The waitress said it was ‘okay’ and helped me clear it up.Verdict: Pork chop rice definitely worth trying. Definitely coming back.
