Great go-to for a late night comfort. Pho is decent and tasty.I’ve been here during the day and at night, staff are efficient – not much personality but could be a language barrier. They are friendly though and willing to help if you had an enquiry.Haven’t had a bad experience here as I’ve occadsionally have a the Pho Tai. Once had the Crispy Chicken with Egg Noodles though with just that, I do recommend it.
We decided to give this restaurant a try only because the restaurant next door was full. What a mistake. Everything was disappointing, especially the sour soup with live perch ‘canh chua ca chem.’ First, we expected it to arrive in the hot pot where the ingredients are left on top and we cook it ourselves, but it came in a clay pot with all the ingredients already inside. But that’s not the problem, the problem is the taste. It has to be one of the worst canh chua we’ve tasted in Sydney. It wasn’t sweet or sour, just bland. The only thing that was ok, was the caramelised perch. Service was not very attentive. Forget a lot of things. Will not be returning. So many better places around Canley.
Decided to get some take out from dien hen. My partner and I ordered two dry hu Tieu. One with crispy skin chicken and the other was combination. How disappointing it was when we opened our take away. Hu Tieu noodles was under cooked and smelt off. My partners combination included pork that dry, squid that was uncooked. My crispy chicken still had over thirty feathers on it. We are absolutely turned off. Never again.
One of the pioneers of the now popular Canley Heights food strip, Diem Hen serves up pretty much most Viet single serve standards – skip the pho order or even broken rice and try their dry bun vermicelli noodles – the ones with grilled beef and amazing range of shredded cucumber and mints with fish sauce is brilliant. reviewinfive.com
Hit or miss restaurant really. If you bump into the boss, he is really rude and hasty. His service was horrible, speaking to me in such a horrible manner. Other times it is great, but prices are getting quite out of hand. Duck salad is great!!
Asian food and how its eaten reflects their communal culture. Vietnamese food ramps it up a notch with more interactivity, individuality and amazing freshness. Take the humble bowl of bun bo xao (vermicelli beef) at Diem Hen: warm vermicelli rice noodles, marinated then fried strips of beef, crispy-fresh bean sprouts, sliced cucumber, pickled carrots and radish, and shredded mints: earthy purple perilla, sharp Vietnamese mint. A bowl of bun bo xao is a work of art, a rainbow of colour with contrasting flavours and textures. The genius of Vietnamese food is that you customise it to your taste, add a lot, some or no sliced chilli, pour lashings or be frugal with the side fish sauce.Diem Hen is one of the oldest restaurants in Canley Heights and, while its had a make-over, is still as authentic as you get. Its a perfect place to experience tasty, tactile, sticky, fragrant and smelly Viet food. noodlies.com
Diem hen advantage are their operational hours, they open till late (1am or 2am base on occupancy) So it’s good for late night snack or a bowl of pho.The owner and staff are very nice and friendly, I always feel welcome when I visit them, not only that but they also provide BIG bowl of pho which is ideal for US big people. Their rice dish and clay pot items are great for sharing dinner style with 4 or more people but if your alone go for the single rice dishes with crispy chicken or pork chops! asianfoodninja.com
