Won’t be coming back to this restaurant. The service from the waitstaff was so terrible that the tables seated beside us even made comments about the attitude of all the staff. Slamming plates on the table? Not acceptable. Food was average and I am certain our wagyu beef was off as the meat was a dark grey colour. Do not recommend this joint.
Food was nice but service lackingLa Grilla is a Korean BBQ restaurant located at the top of the Canley Heights food strip. It is a small restaurant with some outdoor seating. It also has some interesting artwork on the walls.Because it was the Canley Heights Lunar New Year Town Centre celebration, the restaurant was busy. Most restaurants were busy. We managed to squeeze ourselves inside in the corner but there was no room to put the pram so we parked it next to me behind an empty table. As a result, it was a bit hard for the wait staff to serve us the food. Regardless, it’s not acceptable to throw the plates across the table to us. I would have preferred them to have passed them to me. We ordered the Full Filling Wagyu Set with raw marbled beef, beef rib, outside skirt and chilli pork belly to cook ourselves in front of us on a hot plate. We also ordered a side of miso soup and purple rice. To drink, we only ordered the pineapple cruiseritta as we had made a trip to Teabags prior. As part of the wagyu set, it came with 5 different side dishes. The white radish was nicely pickled and sliced thinly whilst maintaining its crunch. The omelette was cold and had a lot of onion in it. Flavors were ok, not very salty. The broccoli was overcooked and was not nice. The kimchi was yummy. The wombok was well marinated with chilli and salt, and I had only had hoped there was more. The pickled onion was suprisingly nice. It was sweet, sour and salty. It didnt taste spicy from the onion and it didnt have the strong onion flavor either. The variety of meat provided all was marinated well. It had a lot of nice flavours. The set meal definitely was enough to feed two people happily. If I could eat more, I would. Just a novelty way of dining out.The salad was nice with a sweet and salty dressing. But it would have been nicer if it had some carrot, capsicum or cucumber for some colour and texture. The miso soup was a little salty. It had small pieces of tofu and seaweed. The purple rice was just boiled rice. It was cooked well and wasn’t soggy.I had trouble waving down a waitstaff and when I did, we ordered the pineapple cruiseritta. Some time had passed so I asked again and it still took a while for the drink to arrive. We finally received the drink and by looking at it, I was trying to work out what could have they done that could have taken so long – nothing. It was nice, tasted more like a sweet drink, couldnt really taste the alcohol. As we were finishing up, I wanted to order an icy dessert but was told that the ice machine wasn’t working. What a let down. Maybe it would have been a good idea if the waitstaff informed us at the time she sat us down to avoid disappointment when ordering. Verdict: Meat had a lot of yummy flavours so I dont think the other meat dishes on the menu would disappoint. If you like kimchi like I do, it is yummy here. Definitely be back and hopefully they would have improved on customer service by then.
Taste-wise : delicious.Price-wise : cheap.Staff treatment : very friendly.Portion size : fulfilling.Went there for dinner with my family and very happy with my first visit. We ordered the meal wagyu set for 2 people for $59 and the meat were a lot. We had the Tteok-bokki and Japchae too and it was not too bad. Maybe order the cheese Tteok-bokki cause I had the meat one, it wasnt that nice. The staffs were so friendly too, with smiles and always helped us quickly. Would definitely visit them again!
Always a hit and miss with this place, food is alright but definitely not as great as the ones in Lidcombe or Strathfield. The food never comes out altogether, sometimes I’ve finished my meal and then my friends meal comes out. Sometimes they forget about the order until I’ve asked, price is a bit pricey for the area and serving size.
Food is ok but the portion size is small for the price. Between 4 people, we ordered 3 bbq dishes, a noodle, seafood pancake, large fried chicken and we left feeling hungry.
Top quality Korean BBQ restaurant . Service is always amazing, and the wagyu beef is high quality and tasty. Price is within reason. Overall, a highly recommendable restaurant.
Over priced!!! Not worth it! Paid $10 for extra cheese which is absolutely ridiculous because I only got a small bowl worth of extra cheese which was just crappy packaged cheese
