Came to this restaurant today with family, waited sooooo long before our order was even taken, we had to keep asking for them to take our order, we then sat there for soooo long waiting for our food, they didnt have enough staff working, restaurant was full, however only the husband and wife, and one chef working. We then sat there for ages waiting for our food, and could not help to notice that the old male owner kept walking around with sweat dripping off his face, he then went on to wipe his nose and face with his hand which was then covered in sweat and handled customers plates of food with the same hand. Not to mention using the same hands to pick up ice and put the ice into a customers drink. This was enough to make us all feel sick enough to get up and leave. Would rate this place YUK OUT OF 5 stars if I could, but unfortunately 1 Star is the lowest we could give..By all means try this place for yourself, but our suggestion would be DO NOT EAT HERE AT ALL..!!
I swear to God that i just had a very very bad experience in this restaurant. Really awful food with terrible service. The boss came and took my order, but the kitchen ran out of that food then He decided to change my order himself. Also staffs are really rude either. Not recommend anyone to this restaurant or you can come and try your luck.
Took about 40 minutes to receive our order. Staff were very forgetful with simple things such as giving us the menu (after requesting it twice) and providing fish sauce (we had to remind them about this). Food was decent but there are better places to dine at such as their neighbouring restaurant Sinh Phu.
Went here for a late night dinner with a group of friends.Opt for the caramelised fish in a clay pot or the sweet and sour fish soup, my favourites for this place.
Thanh Mai is one of the original restaurants in Canley Heights. Not the cleanest place in the front so i can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. Eep! :/ Food is good for the price. I always get the special vermicelli dish.
Convenience is probably the only reason why I’d eat here. It’s a local restaurant, priced quite good, but if I could give the service a negative rating I would.Also, the food is quite inconsistent. Some dishes come out decent some days, and incredibly disappointing other days. E.g. Today, I ordered a fish congee. Every other time it’s been nice, made with fish fillets, comes out steaming hot. Today, they switched up the fish and put in another type of fish that had a revolting fresh sea smell, which made the entire congee smell terrible. Also, my friend has ordered the congee with chicken salad a few times, and sometimes the chicken salad comes out with bones, sometimes it doesn’t. One time she asked for the salad to come out without bones, and the owner rudely told her that it doesn’t come with bones, ever. He then proceeded to bring out a chicken congee (not a chicken salad congee) and insisted that it was what she had ordered …Will most likely not come back again…today’s meals were so very disappointing (smelly fish congee, tasteless hu tieu xao, soggy noodles for the crispy chicken noodle dish, and predominantly onion-filled chicken salad to accompany a tasteless congee).
It’s been a while since I’ve been here and my experience is compared to the other Viet restaurants on the street,this is on the average end. I’m a little worried about there cleanliness and service isn’t great. It’s been here for a while so it just be doing something right but with so many options on Canley Heights I doubt I will be back
