Cosy cafeThe Weston Eatery is a small cafe serving an all day menu of breakfast, burgers, and even a poke bowl. It is a cosy cafe with modern furnishings. Not pram friendly. Not ideal for groups of any size.I’ve been wanting to try this cafe for a while. We came for breakfast and it was busy. We didn’t wait long for a table but it was a tight squeeze to fit the four of us including a high chair. We had to place an order at the counter. We ordered to eat the Harvest Plate with an extra side of hash brown and Pork Belly. To drink, we ordered an extra hot Green Tea Latte, Orange Sky, and a House Made Lemonade. For desserts, we tried both the French Toast and Pannacotta. The food didn’t take long to arrive. The Harvest Plate was nice. The scrambled eggs were nice, soft and seasoned well. The bacon was cooked well, not burnt. The kale was cooked well and seasoned nicely. I enjoyed it so much that I wanted more. I don’t like grilled tomatoes so not sure how they rated. The hash browns were also cooked well. I was suprised to see x2 extra hasbrowns for the price as a side, normally I would only receive one. The bread was not toasted enough so it was a bit chewy. There was only one thing missing from the plate, mushrooms. Would have loved to have had mushrooms. The Pork Belly was presented and tasted nice but it was a small serving. It came with a thick slice of twice-cooked pork belly with bulgogi sauce, gyoza, and apple and cabbage slaw. The pork belly was soft and paired nicely with the sweet and salty bulgogi sauce. The major let down was the chewy pork skin. Knowing how bad it is for your health, it is something I look forward to. Not impressed. The gyoza were cooked nicely, crispy on the outside and soft and nicely seasoned filling on the inside. Shame there were only 2 pieces. The apple and cabbage slaw was fresh, tasty, and moreish. The Green Tea Latte wasn’t extra hot as requested. It was however creamy on top. The Orange Sky had orange, pineapple, lemon, and tumeric. The flavours tasted okay, not the first choice of drink for any of us. It was the last drink to be consumed. The House Made Lemonade was pretty as it had blue and purple syrup. When mixed together, it was really enjoyable, so much so that we ordered another one.We were looking forward to the desserts but were disappointed with both. The buttermilk pannacotta came with seeds and nut granola, apricot puree, and fresh fruits. The pannacotta was not wobbly when the plate was shaken, it was dense and not very enjoyable. It did have nice mellow flavours. I did not really like the combination of the dried fruit and nuts. The apricot puree was nice and smooth. It was a bit sweet but balanced well when eaten with the pannacotta. The fruit was fresh but there was not enough of it.The French Toast came with a thick slice of brioche, chocolate ganache, candied orange, and vanilla ice cream. The brioche was soft on the inside but a bit too crispy/firm on the outside. The chocolate ganache was yummy and rich. The candied orange was not enjoyable as it was too chewy/firm to eat. I would have preferred freeze dried fruit. There was only 2 fresh raspberries, I would have preferred more fresh fruit.Staff seemed friendly.Verdict: The pork belly and house made lemonade are worth trying when dining here.
