We were a group of 5 friends on a Saturday night. Overall it was very pleasant. I had the escargot for entree and they were nice. I had the twice roasted duck for main. It was average – a bit dry and tough but the jus was nice. Huge serve. Dessert was the chocolate tart. Chocolate, pastry, raspberry coulis and ice cream looked like a super sweet line up so asked for no icecream and I’m glad I did.The service … yes friendly but certainly not attentive. You would expect a restaurant presenting itself and their prices at this level to pour the wine and check-in how the dishes were. They were only at 3/4 capacity. There was also an assumption that we didn’t frequently speak, eat or understand french across unnecessary translations and patronising questions.Overall it was very pleasant. I would absolutely go back for an every day meal.

When a friend suggested dinner at this suburban French bistro, I did not have many expectations. However, the warm ambience, enticing smell & friendly service were all present from the moment we entered this cosy & classy restaurant. The menu offers classic French bistro dishes & the food did not disappoint. Being an adventurous eater, the almond crusted brains caught my eye and I am glad to have tried it. Perfectly crunchy on the outside with a light, nutty taste encasing a soft, pate like textured brain within. It was delicious, rich & decadent, even more so with a creamy sauce. Then there was the twice baked souffle which was perfect & again very indulgent, just how it should be. Mussles are a much lighter starter but nonetheless tasty. Classic steak was a must order & it was cooked well as requested with a generous amount of jus. Pork was tender & perfect with a lightly sweet sauce. The highlight for me was the seafood dish of the day, which was sweet, succulent & that creamy sauce again was decadent, so French & so addictive. A side of fresh green beans & crispy potatoes were good accompaniments. On the sweeter endings, a delicious chocolate tart was surprisingly light with a good buttery, thin crust. The creme brulee was also fantastic, not overly sweet or eggy with that obligatory sugar crackling on top. Paired with a good strong coffee & very chocolatey hot chocolate, it was an indulgent & satisfying evening.
