Davids cakes is a beautiful family owned cafe with an amazing community spirit. their pies and cakes are exceptional and are well-paired with their beautifully blended coffee beans and coffee’s.

when i went in the lady serving was very polite and served me with a great big smile, i had the country charm pie and a cappuccino, the pie had great depth of flavors and the chicken cooked perfectly, the coffee was great but a bit bland. in all a great experience.

Davids cakes is a nice local bakery amongst a few small shops. It’s a nice pit stop it you were in the shops anyway or if you were getting yourself a reward for going to the dentist across the road. It’s not outstanding in terms of sweets and pies and I often find the sweets a little too buttery or a little dry. Pies are okay and the bakery is open quite early but it’s a little bit non event overall. Staff are hit and miss but for a fast takeaway style place it’s not a big deal but it doesn’t help either. eatventures.net

Last Friday, 18th March, I bought a spinach quiche from the Carlingford store, it was gritty, which would suggest that the spinach was not washed properly. No one would eat it I buy these quiche a lot and they have always been beautiful. I tried to speak to management on Saturday, impossible, but left a message, tried again on Monday, still no success. No way to run a business.

A good, solid local bakery – 3/5 seems a harsh review for a pretty decent place – just that there’s a lot of competition for bakeries these days, and this place isn’t a standout. I’ve tried a range of small cakes and a couple of teacakes. They varied, some quite nice, others (a cherry teacake in particular) left a fatty mouth feel, some were a bit dry or heavy. Still pleasant enough to eat, and service is friendly. If I’m nearby I like to pop in for a small treat or two, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here.

Cakes and bread are good, but the pies always have soft bottoms due to the pie tins or not enough blind baking. Not bad but they need to work on a few things.

:-). Service is friendly on weekends even when busy, the older ladies during the day can be a bit brisk but most of the food makes up for it. The pies are great, as are many of the tea cakes and smaller daily baked goods. Some of the small cakes seem a day old but mostly good. Overall, 7/10.
