It was difficult finding a place that was open for dessert on a Sunday night here in the Hunter Valley but Bodega was a good find. The restaurant itself was low key despite it’s location in the luxurious Cypress Lakes Resort. There was only four items on the dessert menu. However, it was still a hard decision. We finally decided on the lemon meringue and sticky date pudding. Presentation-wise the lemon meringue looked so pretty but it lacked the tartness I expected from lemons. The sticky date pudding however was delicious with the right level of sweetness and stickiness.

Breakfast was dreadful. The buffet style breakfast was appalling. Rubbery flavourless sausages, soft oily fatty bacon, bland hashbrowns out a box, acceptable scrambled eggs, doughy flat tiny croissants. And all for an outrageous $29! An absolute disappointment on every parameter.

To dinner there last night. Best scallops I’ve had for a long time, kangaroo fillet for mains — cooked to perfection and frangipani fig tart for dessert which was beautifully presented but needed a knife and fork to cut, tasted very nice though. Waiter was as attentive as could be but probably could have done with another person on the floor as he was rushed off his feet. Overall I would give the whole night there an 8/10 and would definitely go back again.

No good. Never again. Went over las long weekend. Food mistakes made. Late. Incorrect. No anchiovies. Worst still no apologies. Margaritas are expensive and revolting. Save your money. Go to Cacciatore (take away pizza pretty good for regional area) or Tempus two. Both the bar and the Thai place pretty special

Utter chaos and disaster. Everything that could go wrong went wrong and worse and seemed that all surrounding tables suffered the same. Food 1 hour late, incomplete, cold and raw, had to cancel one of the mains and left hungry. Hugely overpriced food. Never to return!
