What happened between 2016 to 2018?! Last review was in 2016 and we never thought things could change so drastically. The view is still beautiful but the food is certainly not there anymore! Both dishes are just sour and watery. We can’t taste other flavour and certainly not the taste of seafood. To make things worse, it is very expensive! We left with close to $100 price tag.
So Disappointing! For my birthday we booked dinner online & then after not hearing back called them up. They said the Manager looks after the bookings but it was not recorded so added our booking. On the Friday afternoon we arrived in Lovedale & went to visit the lovely Robyn at Adina at Adina Cellar door. We saw a sign on Emersons door saying that they were closed over the Lovedale Long Lunch weekend & thought surely that does not mean tonight as we knew we had a booking! To our shock Robyn said she did not think Emersons would be opening! On the way past we saw that the door was ajar so called out & someone from the kitchen came out & looked in the booking book. Our booking was there but had been crossed out & he said that someone was supposed to call people to let them know. No calls, messages or email were received. If we had not happened to be at Adina in the afternoon we would have turned up to a dark empty restaurant on my birthday!
The flies!! I wish they could have done something about the flies!! I know its not their fault and its nature, but it ruined our experience. 11am on a Saturday morning, sitting on the back verandah having breakfast could have been amazing, but the flies were just sh!t. The restaurant was rather empty at the time we arrived but we were seated at the most sunniest table (got abit too hot to handle), needless to say we hurriedly finished our meals and high tailed it out of there. Breakfast food wasn’t too bad.
Located about a 15-minute drive from our hotel in Pokolbin, Emerson’s is situated on the vast, gorgeous Adina Vineyard in Lovedale. The restaurant’s simplistic décor is complemented by acres of established vineyards and an olive grove that transports you to a tranquil state. The menu here, as one would expect, focuses on locally sourced, fresh produce. I sipped on some water from the ceramic water cup made by chef and owner Emerson Rodriguez just a few weeks before our visit, while contemplating what to order. The other travel bunnie took Minibun George for a walk in the vineyard while we waited for the food to come out, which didn’t take long at all as we were the first table to arrive.
