Stayed at cessnock during the visit to hunter valley and been to grinders for a brekky even though the ratings and reviews were mediocre. As a food enthusiast it’s just not the reviews and ratings but the gut instincts which play a bigger part and still went here and was extremely happy with the decision.Big brekky was delicious with a great blend of everything and sausages, scrambled egg, hash brown, baked beans and as a matter of fact everything stood out.The coffee was good too.Service was great and the ambience was pretty good.Price is on the higher side which might be a reason for the mediocre ratings but its worth the taste.Highly recommended

Stopped by Cessnock on the way to the Hunter Valley. One of the few cafes open for business on Easter Sunday. I got a coffee and the Tradie’s Roll, which I really enjoyed. Service was quick. The bun was toasted and so soft and fluffy in the middle. The egg was cooked perfectly and there was a generous amount of bacon. Loved it!!

I was extremely disappointed with the customer service. The staff stopped serving coffee before 2pm even though the cafe closes at 3pm as advertised on Zomato. This is truly unprofessional.

Grinders is a cute little addition to Vincent Street. I welcome any kind of new business to Cessnock to inject some new life into the area. Grinders has so much potential, but misses the mark when it comes to food. The menu is gigantic, any possible combination of every kind of dish seems to be on offer. Whilst great for fussy types, it gave me a bit of ‘blur vision’ as I didn’t know where to look. The food is honestly just ok. And for $15-$20 for your average breakfast offering it would want to be delicious. I was lucky to get even half of an avocado on my breakfast bruschetta, even after asking for no tomato. It seems I was meant to be appeased with some rough cut haloumi and a hard poached egg. $4.50 for a piccolo is also a bit rich in a place which doesn’t offer table service. If they could lift their game in the food department it would be worth paying the inflated prices, as there really is a lovely little atmosphere going on inside.

A welcome addition to Cessnock! Nice coffee, yummy breakfast with plenty of options for gluten free/vegetarian/vegan. Sandwich bar also available. Will be back!
