This is a great little restaurant tucked away in the countryside in the Hunter Valley. It was our first time visiting and we had a nice conversation with our host and owner Luigi. The food was really great. We started with the mushroom prosciutto pizza which was terrific. We each then had pastas that were also good. A very nice bottle of Cannonau and a wonderful setting overlooking their own vineyards made the evening very enjoyable. Worth a visit for sure.
Celebrated a special occasion at Lillino’s last night! The atmosphere is incomparable, although would’ve probably been better to experience during summer when it’s not 8 degrees and the suns out for longer, the seclusion of this restaurant makes it super special. On arrival you are greeted by two exceptionally adorable canine doormen, and the friendly staff. The simplistic yet thoughtful interior creates a memorable ambience, in particular with the high curved ceiling. The food was super super delicious, although portions are small the servings are just right. Every dish was flavoursome and you could taste the dedication that went into cooking it. In particular, the rolled pork belly is a must-have. To top it off, we were very lucky to witness the owners vocal talents as he serenaded diners. This restaurant was worth the extra long drive from Sydney.
I went there with my wife for dinner. We ordered Luigi’s Luigine each, and they were really good. The service was great and the waitress was very friendly. It is a nice spot as well, and they have very cute dogs at the entrance.Recommended!
LOVE! Went for a belated Mother’s Day lunch and basically ate though the menu.Started with bruschetta (served on thin pizza base, not bread so it was nice and light) and anti pasti. We then moved on to the special eggplant (yum) and scallops wrapped in prosciutto (so tasty)! The crumbed calamari was also great – not too oily or greasy, nice light batter. We were there for a long lunch so next was a course of pasta – all home made! Ravioli (probably the least favourite – good pasta, tasty but not very strong flavours), gnocchi was awesome – great balance, and the tagliatelle veal ragu was amazing!Next up was suckling pig and slow roasted lamb – melt in your mouth. So good!! Both served with roast potato, green beans and cabbage. We finished off with the traditional pastry desert which was surprisingly light, and the best tiramisu ever!Portion sizes were generous, and service was great! Nice local wine list. Lovely view, would be nice to sit outside on a sunny day. Would be nice and cosy if the fireplace had a real fire in it (instead of an orange light!).Highly recommend!
