This was the only place open with reasonable prices on a Sunday night. Usually gnocchi is covered with sauces. The lack of sauce makes me feel like I am eating chips with this gnocchi dish. I could have made better steaks. Very disappointed with this well known brand. The only saving grace was the free bread. Even then the butter wasn’t spreadable.
Redsalt is an award-winning restaurant and is apparently very renowned for their steak products and degustation dishes. I decided to pay a visit to this restaurant for some dinner and here’s my honest and fair review of the place. My family and myself all decided to order the three course meals which came with a wide variety of entrees, mains, and desserts. Firstly, the entree dishes we ordered were foie gras, rock oysters, and the special soup. Everything was presented beautifully but I found that the dishes were quite bland and unappetising in terms of taste. The soup was the most disappointing out of the selection. For the mains, everyone ordered the eye fillet steaks which came with special mash potatoes, roasted tomatoes and sauces. This was the most disappointing part of the dining experience as you don’t expect an award-winning restaurant who charges $50 to give you overcooked steaks! Even as a novice home cook, I could’ve probably done better? I ordered my steak med-rare and it was presented to me well-done, twice! The sides were also quite mediocre.Anyways, on a more positive note, the dessert dishes were very delicious and satisfying. The waiting staff were also very understanding and I was very grateful for their assistance throughout the meal.
We had dinner here on our first night and the food and service was excellent. The following morning we decided to try the breakfast buffet. They were quite busy so we didn’t mind the wait (20 min for a coffee). We did not however expect to be charged $38 per person for breakfast, a buffet let me remind you. There are many other cafés to try so please don’t fall in the trap we did. Despite this we enjoyed the golf course and accommodation. I would stay here again but try somewhere else for breakfast.
The service here is excellent. Very friendly and prompt. Had a big table of 13 and was catered for professionally from start to finished. Ordered the pâté with brioche bread for entree, eye fillet steak cooked rare with side potato gratin for main and a coffee flavoured dessert with chocolate. Everything was tasty, especially loved the flavoursome pâté with the warm soft brioche bread. Felt like the dishes didn’t come out as quickly as it should because slightly on the cold side, I assume because of our large table. But expected it to be perfect for crowne plaza anyway. However it was more of a pleasant experience. Modern and large restaurant layout and intimate ambience at night. Fun night.
The Lovedale Long Lunch is an annual event held during the third weekend of May in the Hunter Valley which brings together fine food and wine across various restaurants and wineries in the Lovedale region. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the gastronomic event and one of the restaurants taking part is Redsalt Restaurant from the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley where we previewed their upcoming lunch dishes which showcase fresh produce from the region. Redsalt Restaurant functions as the main dining option at Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley, featuring both indoor and outdoor seating. Unfortunately, it is bucketing down with rain during our visit to the resort, but luckily we still get a magnificent view of the resort pool and other facilities from the inside. The Lovedale Long Lunch menu on offer at Redsalt Restaurant is a two-course meal, with two options to choose from for both the main and dessert. Each main course is matched with one of the local wines from the family owned Sandalyn Wi
