We saw that this place was super popular in spice alley so we decided to follow the crowd – which was a mistake. Food was overpriced and tasted like it came out of the kitchen of a cheap shopping centre food court. The laksa was full of noodles that soaked up all the sauce/soup so the noodles became too soft and broke. The crispy pork belly came out cold and did not taste fresh. The fried chicken in the roti dish was too salty and the roti itself was just a piece of thick flatbread and was not light or flaky at all. Really a disappointment for the price they came at – pork belly laksa and the roti set were both $16.50. Will definitely go to the other stores within spice alley next time.
I had high expectations for spice alley as ive heard great reviews about the restaurants tucked away in this little Asian corner of the city. Variety of places to choose from, but I chose on Alex Lee kitchen as the food images displayed looked great, and prices were cheap (didnt look at any reviews of this place beforehand). Ordered the crispy chicken rice and wait time wasnt too bad. Food looked good and homely, however didnt taste all that good.
