Opposite to UTS, Pho Mumum is the destination of many uni students and tourists. As much as I want to support this place, I must say that I was a little bit dazzled by the fusion design of Asian and Western design. Chinese lanterns hanging up the ceiling, Japanese room divider at the far end corner, Vietnamese decor on the wall, some violet cushioned chairs, and other wooden like tables in the middle. It brought out the uneasiness, almost like confusion in me.First time I was here I ordered vermicelli salad bowl, it was alright. Second time tried out goi cuon, or Vietnamese prawn and pork paper rolls. Vermicelli noodles were cold and hard (refrigerated?), prawntasted cheap and not fresh, meat was minimal, and veggies were basic. I shall rename it vermicelli paper rolls because I could only taste the noodles. All can fail, but not the sauce. However, the sauce failed too. With mere peanut butter, it couldn’t bring out much flavorof goi cuon. If only they added hoisin sauce, vinegar, and fried garlic… (and crushed peanut)… if only…
One uncomfortable thing about this place was the seating we were given. The unadjustable seat was so far from the table we could barely reach, we had to sit at the very edge of the seat just to eat our meal. The pho was relatively pleasant so that made up for it a little bit
TRIED OUT THE PHO NOODLE!Had dinner with my friend on Saturday Night, we arrived at 6:30pm. I ordered raw beef noodle soup & my friend ordered meat ball noodle soup. When we arrive, the place was quite empty, but after we finish eating, the room started to full. Heard it was always pact during lunch time and night. The broth soup was quite nice & satisfying, for a price of $11,5 each of big portion pho noodle.Fairly proportion of noodle & beef, the beef is also nice and tasty, however the rice noodle was a little bit overcooked and mushy. Which I’m not a fan of.The spoon, fork, chopsticks and cups are a little bit dirty, which was kind of unpleasant, /so we decided to clean everything first before we use it.Overall, we enjoyed our experience. Would I come back? Probably only if I were somewhere around the location and craving for some pho noodle, I would probably come back, but not intentionally go and visit the restaurant.
